Lead Designer Ian Glaum Named Partner at Crew Cuts
Ian Glaum, long time Creative Director and Lead Designer at Crew Cuts, has been named partner of the popular full-service post-production facility.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to have Ian join our small group of Managing Partners at Crew Cuts,” gushed Nancy Jacobsen, Crew Cuts Partner and Executive Producer. “Ian is not only invaluable as head of our visual effects and graphics department, but also vital to the company as a whole.”
Drawn to art from an early age, Ian’s idea of funneling his passion into a career evolved after a teacher purchased a painting of his in the 4th grade. His path to the field of Advertising was forged when his brother, an Agency Copywriter, hired Ian as his Art Director. It was during this time that Ian began teaching himself 2d and 3d animation to better communicate his ideas to the agency’s creative partners.
Preferring production over agency work, Ian soon transitioned to post-production. After working as a designer for an upstart broadcast design company, Ian’s next position as Lead Designer at Crew Cuts’ roommate and collaborator, Quiet Man, first introduced him to the company. Years later, when Crew Cuts decided to launch an in-house visual effects department, they knew Ian would be the perfect fit.
Since joining Crew Cuts, Ian has enjoyed working with agency creatives on campaigns for clients such as Time Warner Cable, GE, and Gillette.
“I’m really inspired by all the people I work with,” said Ian. “Our graphics and visual effects team is amazing, and we have the best commercial editors in the city. We also have great relationships with our clients, some going back over 20 years.”
Whether he is collaborating with creatives, supervising visual effects on set, or organizing his Annual Crew Cuts’ Staff Barbeque, Ian Glaum embodies the dedication and the lively culture that Crew Cuts is known for.
“Working in this industry is just as much a lifestyle as it is a career or a job,” admits Ian, “It’s days, it’s nights, it’s weekends, and sometimes I dream about placing key frames. And I love it.”
