LOS ANGELES (AP) --

Global music revenues fell 3.9 percent to $15 billion in 2013, pulled down by a sharp decline in compact disc sales in Japan, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.

Japan, which accounts for more than a fifth of worldwide sales, saw revenue fall 16.7 percent as sales of CDs and ringtones declined while streaming services had yet to catch on, the trade group said Tuesday.

Outside of Japan, the growing popularity of free and paid streaming music services such as Pandora and Spotify are helping offset the decline of CD sales. Excluding Japan, global music revenue fell just 0.1 percent.

Global digital music revenue grew 4.3 percent to $5.9 billion in 2013. Physical revenue declined 11.7 percent to $7.7 million, performance rights revenue grew 19 percent to $1.1 billion, while synchronization revenue from use of songs in movies and TV shows fell 3.4 percent to $322 More

NEW YORK (AP) --

The broadcast television networks showed some 20 original dramas among the 50 most-popular programs last week, yet cable's sensation "The Walking Dead" beat them all.

AMC's creep fest was seen by just under 13 million people, the Nielsen company said. Only the CBS comedy "The Big Bang Theory" and two episodes of the NBC competition "The Voice" — no dramas — had more viewers.

"The Walking Dead" is commonly the most popular drama among young people, but it's a bigger achievement when viewers of all ages are counted. There's one asterisk: CBS' "NCIS" and "NCIS: Los Angeles" aired reruns last week, and those programs usually beat AMC's show in original episodes.

Given how difficult it is for networks to establish new dramas these days, ABC and NBC had some good news with the receptions given to "Resurrection" and "Believe." ABC's "Resurrection" remained in Nielsen's top 10 for its second episode. " More

LOS ANGELES (AP) --

Good ol' Charlie Brown and Snoopy are going 3-D.

20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios say "Peanuts" will hit theaters Nov. 6, 2015. It's the first full-length computer-animated film based on the Charles Schulz comic strip that ran from 1950 to 2000.

Charlie Brown and Snoopy have updated looks in a trailer unveiled Tuesday. The teaser shows the beloved pair up to their old tricks, as Snoopy tries to steal the spotlight and Charlie Brown mutters his famous line "Good grief."

The trailer doesn't reveal whether the rest of the Peanuts crew will also be in the film. But it seems likely that the comic strip's favorite siblings — sweet Linus and sassy Lucy — will also be in 3-D on the big screen.

CHICAGO (AP) --

TV pitchman Kevin Trudeau has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for bilking consumers via infomercials for his best-selling weight loss book.

Before sentencing the 50-year-old Trudeau in Chicago federal court Monday, U.S. District Judge Ronald Guzman said that for decades Trudeau "steadfastly attempted to cheat others for his own personal gain."

Trudeau apologized, saying he was a changed man.

Prosecutors had said they could think of no comparable case of someone cheating people so brazenly. They said Trudeau deserved a sentence of at least 10 years. But defense attorneys said he should serve no more than two years.

Trudeau sold more than 850,000 copies of his book, "The Weight Loss Cure They Don't Want You to Know About." He touted it in commercials that often employed news-interview formats.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) --

The improbable journey of Mine That Bird from southern New Mexico to the Kentucky Derby winner's circle has made it to the silver screen.

The cast and filmmakers of "50-1" were embarking Monday on a cross-country tour to promote the movie. After making a few stops between Las Cruces and Roswell, they're set to arrive in Albuquerque for Wednesday's world premiere at the historic KiMo Theatre.

They will spend the next month weaving their way across the country until they reach Kentucky, with Mine That Bird scheduled to make appearances along the way.

Oscar-winning producer and director Jim Wilson describes it as a "rock star-style tour" that will cover 10,000 miles and provide him and the others with a chance to meet and talk with fans.

"I thought, why not meet the audience this movie is intended for, introduce them to the stars and shake their hands," Wilson said. "It's the audience that More

DAKAR, Senegal (AP) --

Senegal's health minister says lawmakers have banned tobacco advertising and smoking in public places.

Awa Marie Coll Seck said parliament passed the law unanimously on Friday. It imposes fines of up to $100 for smoking in public and more than $400,000 for violating the advertising ban, which also applies to sponsoring cultural and sporting events.

Anti-smoking groups warn of a looming public health crisis as tobacco companies target Africa as a potential growth market.

The American Cancer Society says the prevalence of cigarette smoking in the Middle East and Africa rose by 57 percent between 1990 and 2009.

In response, other countries in the region including Liberia and Ghana have banned public smoking, though enforcement has been uneven.

The ACS recently reported a 12 percent smoking rate among Senegalese boys.
