Anne-Sophie Bine’s directorial debut, Dog Lover - a dark comedy about a man who realizes the only way to win his wife’s love is by becoming her dog—is making the rounds at film festivals. On the heels of the September 3rd World Premiere at The Broad Humor Film Festival, focusing on comedic films by women, the film will next host its Los Angeles Premiere at the Downtown LA Film Festival(DTLA) on September 17, 2022, at 11:20 a.m. at 1000 West Olympic Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90015.

The film stars film TV veteran actor Paul Hungerford (Bravo’s “Significant Others,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Dirty, Sexy, Money”), Olivier-winning actress Gaby Santinelli (Michael Winterbottom’s “A Summer in Genoa,” Paramount’s “Losing Isaiah”), George Snarberg III (“The Shores,” “The Newest Pledge,” “Drop Dead Diva”) and Lindsey Rose Naves (“The L Word: Generation Q,” “Criminal Minds,” Shonda Rhime’s “For the People”).

Director Anne-Sophie Bine says, “Our core creative team hails from the U.S., France, Venezuela and China. We met as fellows at the American Film Institute and first collaborated on this project as a school exercise. A year later, our deep belief in the potential of this story led us to re-make it so we could show it to the world. The result of our second collaboration is the short film, Dog Lover.”

In Dog Lover,  a demoralized husband is losing hope of ever winning back his wife’s affection—until he inadvertently finds the one absurd desire that will make her happy. He must decide whether to change himself into her dog, or risk being alone forever.

Bine got her start in the film industry working with Academy Award-winning production designer Rick Heinrichs on large film productions in London, LA and New Zealand, including “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” currently on Amazon Prime.

Dog Lover is also an Official Selection at the upcoming festivals in September and October: Hell’s Half Mile Festival (Michigan); Tallgrass Film Festival (Kansas); Highland Park Independent Film Festival; Newport Beach Film Festival; and Topaz Film Festival by Women in Film (Dallas).

Dog Lover is directed and produced by Anne-Sophie Bine. Tara Austin produced and screenwriting is by Ari Jacobson. Cinematography is by Nathan Podshadley with editing by Tianze "Edward" Sun and production design by Jose Herrera.
