Filmmaker Amir Bar-Lev is interviewed by SHOOT editor Robert Goldrich in this "In The Director's Chair" session at the DGA Theatre in NYC. Bar-Lev discusses his approach to documentary filmmaking, how it has informed his work in commercials and branded entertainment, as well as how his ad experience has impacted his feature endeavors. Bar-Lev’s body of work includes the lauded documentaries “Long Strange Trip,” “Happy Valley,” “The Tillman Story,” “12.12.12” and “My Kid Could Paint That.”

Among his ad fare are this year’s moving Super Bowl commercial for Verizon, and the Cannes Lion-winning, seminal branded content piece “Re:Generation Music Project” for Hyundai and the Grammy Awards. Bar-Lev is with Chelsea Pictures for commercials and branded content. His work regularly graces the festival circuit--from Sundance to Toronto to SXSW.
