Competitive cooking takes on the raw emotion of a heavyweight title match in 2C Media’s promo for the new season of Destination America’s highly rated “BBQ PITMASTERS.” Destination America’s Chris Grant tapped 2C to conceptualize and create the launch spot for Season 5, which features a new regional component and judge (“Moe”) to its already successful mix. To convey these exciting changes, the creative promotion and design agency played up the show’s competitive spirit and local nuances in a scene depicting regional grilling warriors gearing up for their own “main event” in a hyper-sensationalized, smoke-filled build-up. BBQ PITMASTERS transports viewers into the competitive barbecue subculture, proving that barbecue is much more than just delicious food; it’s a full–blown competitive sport.
