The Whitehouse Post roster just got funnier with the addition of comedy editor Matt Badger. The Tisch School of the Arts alum joins the Whitehouse New York office after spending the past decade honing his craft at Droga5. “I spent 10 years at Droga5 because everyone there are legends, you know, in the Australian sense of the word,” says Badger. “And working with the best will make you be your best. I also love being part of a place with tight-knit vibes, a storied history, and a long reach. With that in mind, Whitehouse was the obvious next place for me to grow my editorial career.”
At Droga5, Badger launched and led the editorial department of Second Child, Droga5’s integrated production studio with a roster of clients including Sprint, Pizza Hut, IHOP, Honey Maid, Johnsonville Sausages, and Under Armour. Badger’s comedic timing is first-rate, and he’s a pro at spoofing an array of genres including blockbuster films, glamourous fashion montages, and faux behind-the-scenes celebrity endorsements starring actors like James Franco and Anna Kendrick (for Scion and Newcastle, respectively).
Badger hopes to bring more of that cheeky humor to Whitehouse. “When I watch Whitehouse’s reel, it’s intimidatingly amazing; bursting with talent and beauty, and I ask myself how can I add to that in my own way,” says Badger. “Hopefully it’s with a bit weirdness, levity, and appropriately applied irreverence. That’s where I feel at home with my work. The past few years, the world has been a bit… uh… tense. I believe our media needs to tell the truth, fight for what’s right, and get shit done. But it also needs to help us crack a smile through it all. That’s where I’d like to fit in.”
“We’re thrilled to welcome Matt to the Whitehouse team after a stellar run at Droga5,” says Whitehouse Post Executive Producer Caitlin Grady. “We can all use some levity in our lives right now – both in the room and in the work. Matt’s infectious mirth combined with his incredible creative talent & pedigree, is just the ticket.”
