Cloud-based platform used to store and share sports media for 19 festivals on five continents.
The Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs (FICTS) has selected WCPMedia Services’ cloud-based digital asset management platform WCPApp to receive, manage, store and distribute submissions to its 2016 FICTS Festivals and World FICTS Challenge.
Recognized by the International Olympics Committee, the FICTS Festivals are a circuit of 19 sports media festivals held in cities around the globe. The festival showcases work from sports broadcasters, producers, advertising agencies, national Olympics committees, sports federations and others involved in sports media. Competitive categories include Documentaries, Cinema, Television & New Technologies, Sports Advertising, Sport & Society, Football in Cinema and Television, and Olympic Spirit or Values. The best work from the local festivals will be selected for inclusion in World FICTS Challenge slated for 15-20 November in Milan. A worldwide audience of more than 3 million people is expected to attend the festivals.
“Our object is to make these events as accessible as possible, therefore all the events are free,” says FICTS President Franco Ascani. “While events in each of our host cities are locally organized, FICTS is responsible for overall project management and coordination.”
WCPMedia’s WCP Web platform provides an efficient, fast and reliable way to manage submissions and other catalog content. It is a holistic solution for digital asset management in cloud architecture with reliable transcoding and security on par with Swiss banking systems. “The platform allows assets related to each festival to be stored in its own account,” explains WCPMedia Services Vice President of Operations Giovanni Contri. “It is possible to share content between festivals and to make content accessible to all participants through virtual screening rooms.”
More than 450 submissions from more than 300 participants are currently stored on WCP, and that count is continuously rising as the various events happen during the year in the locations across the world.
This year, the World FICTS Challenge will include a special retrospective featuring the best footage from all Olympics Games of the modern era, including 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games. “Our aim is to continue to promote Olympism and Olympic culture as priceless values,” Ascani says.
