“In 1970, when I was 14, my dad and I saw an enormous, silver, ‘Flying V’ UFO, slowly and silently hovering directly over our heads above my childhood street,” Harary says today. “While I was jumping up and down with excitement, my father nonchalantly observed the craft flying above us, without expression – he then winked at me and said, ‘Let’s go home now.’ The unbelievable sight didn’t rattle or amaze him in the least. It was only after he died in 2017 that I remembered the wink. It was then I realized for the very first time in my life that my father must have known what that UFO really was!”
After They Came marks Harary’s second book. (His first, Flirting With Fame: A Hollywood Publicist Recalls 50 Years of Celebrity Close Encounters, took Hollywood by storm during the Summer of 2022.) Released by Genius Book Publishing, After They Came blends historical UFO lore and data with a truly unique premise. Harary describes the new book as “A cross between ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’ and ‘It’s A Wonderful Life,’ with a dash of ‘E.T.’ and ‘Close Encounters’ thrown in for good measure!”
Advance Praise For "After They Came" From Major UFO Researchers
“Dan Harary’s book After They Came is an entertaining and upbeat work of sci-fi that cleverly incorporates key parts of the UFO phenomenon's lore and backstory – a delightful tale of wonder and hope.” – Nick Pope, UFO Expert, Contributor to “Ancient Aliens” TV series; UK Ministry of Defence, Ret.
"After They Came is a captivating novel of benevolent alien contact, incorporating author Dan Harary's vision of how to solve humanity’s most intractable problems in order to create a world of abundance and peace. While exploring the impact of alien contact on the people of Earth, Harary, a skilled writer, offers-up a thought-provoking example of identifying just what, in his judgment, really needs fixing." – Richard Dolan, Author of A.D., After Disclosure: When the Government Finally Reveals the Truth about UFOs
“Dan Harary’s brilliant work of fiction in After They Came transports readers on a fascinating journey into the not-so-distant future, through the eyes of Jon Tuckerman, a man who is rescued from his fast track to self-annihilation. Thanks to a giant airship carrying highly advanced extraterrestrials, Jon’s misadventure propels him and humanity to previously unimaginable heights and presents new, inconceivable challenges. If you are looking for an uplifting page turner, go no further.” – Kathleen Marden, Bestselling Author of Captured! The Betty and Barney Hill UFO Experience
“As a key witness myself to the awe-inspiring and non-threatening ‘Phoenix Lights’ mass UFO events in 1997, I feel that author Dan Harary's After They Came offers a welcomed and novel approach to an often much maligned topic. His book presents a fictional odyssey of one man's intimate connection to benevolent beings who gift him and humanity with a stellar ‘Wish List’ by which to help save our world in crisis. Along the way, Harary concurrently gifts the reader with information about ancient artifacts located around the globe, long-held lore about the alien/UFO phenomenon, and even historical UFO data.” – Lynne D, Kitei, M.D./Author/Award-Winning Filmmaker, Phoenix Lights Network
“As the discussion about ‘UFO Disclosure’ continues, Dan Harary, in the meantime, has written a unique and new concept of how mankind may finally learn that we are not alone. After They Came tells a gripping story with suspense and empathy that is obviously well-researched. According to Harary’s story, we may now have another scenario of what is possible ‘After They Do Come!’” – Chase Kloetzke, UFO investigator, Author and Radio Talk Show Host for Fate Magazine
“Dan Harary’s sci-fi novel is an imaginative futuristic vision of myriad themes currently put forth by those active in the areas of UFOs and alien visitation, not all of which are compatible with my own experience and understanding of this important topic, but as written would also be best understood by those familiar with the lore of the genre. The style of the images in After They Came are presented in such a graphic visual style that, with the inclusion of more of the background and historical sources needed by the uninitiated, it could serve as the basis of an entertaining film adaptation.” – Travis Walton, Real Life Alien Abductee & Inspiration for the 1993 Film “Fire in the Sky”
The storyline presented within After They Came: Two benevolent Aliens come to Earth to “fix” all of mankind’s problems – working solely through the efforts of one human being, Jonathan Michael Tuckerman. Tuckerman, a lost and broken man, gains redemption over the course of the novel through a series of unprecedented acts of global heroism and brilliance, while ultimately fulfilling a life path he had no idea was predestined.
After They Came: Mini-Synopsis
Jonathan Tuckerman, a Los Angeles man down on his luck and truly alone in life, reaches his 70th birthday and decides to mark the occasion by drowning himself in the Pacific Ocean. Instead, he inadvertently becomes the world’s “Wonder Man” after a pair of extra-terrestrial visitors from the Pleiades interdimensional star system suddenly appear in a giant spacecraft, pluck him from the sea and present him to the media and the world as their sole “Ambassador to Mankind.”
Jonathan’s life is instantly – and dramatically – transformed forever, as he works closely with the magnificent Tall White aliens Jorthon and Kalyssa to solve virtually each and every one of man’s long-insurmountable problems.
Jorthon and Kalyssa aren’t the only aliens on Earth, however. While Jonathan’s life has infinitely improved by the arrival of these benevolent aliens, not everything is as copasetic as it seems. The Draconians, a long-hidden race of ancient – and sinister – extra-terrestrials, suddenly make their presence on Earth known, livid that Tuckerman and the “Tall Whites” have received global accolades for their remarkable achievements. The Draconians and their heinous leader believe they have long been ignored by the Tall Whites – and by God himself – for their miserable existence, as they decide to seek recognition, retribution and revenge.
After They Came takes the reader—indeed, the entire human race—on a wild ride through UFO research and lore, global politics, climate change, religion, true love, a family reunion, and “the meaning of life itself,” all set against the backdrop of unprecedented extra-terrestrial intervention. The novel presents unlimited possibilities for achieving global peace and prosperity – dreams heretofore unattainable by modern man. It is a story of loneliness reversed, despair erased, and one man’s wholly remarkable destiny fulfilled.
The Genesis Behind After They Came
Dan Harary’s father, Jack Robert Harary, worked for the U.S. Army’s Department of Defense, based inside Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, from Summer 1951 until his retirement in the Fall of 1996. He was an Electronics Engineer, and designed and invented new radar detection systems, guided missiles, and airborne drones that integrated the use of photographic spying equipment. (Harary Sr. once described one of his inventions as something that “looked like a flying garbage can”). Always highly secretive about his work, when asked what he did for a living, Jack would always – and only – reply: “I helped the United States win the Cold War.”
One evening during Spring 1970, Jack and Dan (age 14) were in Jack’s car approaching Dwight Drive in West Deal, New Jersey – the street the Harary Family lived on from 1963 until 1978. He’d picked Dan up from a Hebrew school class – it was perhaps 5 pm, and still daylight. As the duo turned onto Dwight Drive from the adjacent Deal Road, they saw through the windshield an enormous silver “Flying V” shaped UFO craft very, very slowly hovering over the homes of their neighbors. The craft had three lights – one red, one blue, and one silver – on each of its tips.
Dan shouted “Dad, Stop the car! Stop the car!” Jack did so and pulled the vehicle off to the side of the road. The pair got out and watched the giant craft glide directly above them – silently – perhaps 200 feet in the sky. Jack Harary said nothing. As though the sighting was commonplace, he was completely and totally nonplussed by the entiexperience. Dan was hyper-ventilating, jumping up and down in amazement. “Dad this is so cool! A UFO! Dad, we saw a UFO!” To this, Jack responded by winking at his son, then said, “Let’s go home now.” Once back inside the car, Dan said, “Dad! I’m gonna put this in my diary!” To which his brilliant genius father coolly responded, “What? You have diarrhea?”
Upon returning home, Dan ran into the kitchen and picked up the family’s (rotary) phone to call The Asbury Park Press – their local area newspaper. He remembers distinctly the conversation. A woman answered. Dan said, “Hi, my name is Danny Harary. I live on Dwight Drive in West Deal. I want to report a UFO! My dad and I just saw a big silver UFO flying over our street!” The woman, sounding somewhat frantic, said, “Sonny, we’re getting A LOT of phone calls about this right now. Sorry, but I have to go.” She hung up. Dan searched that newspaper the next day and was greatly disappointed to see no mention of his encounter anywhere. No story ever ran.
Shortly after Jack Harary died in April 2017, Dan was sitting alone in a West Los Angeles deli, when he suddenly recalled his father’s WINK! On the paper placemat before him on the table, Dan wrote down the letters “A”, “T” and “C”, not realizing at first what they meant. A few minutes later, he came up with After They Came, and thus was born the title for this book.
While reading Richard M. Dolan’s 2002 book, “UFOs and the National Security State” in 2017, Dan was thrilled to discover, toward the back of the book, Dolan’s chronological “Table of Military UFO Encounters.” Listed there were two entries that blew Dan’s mind: The first on September 10, 1951, being a radar and visually-confirmed sighting of a metallic, disc-shaped object flying at 900 mph over the skies of Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. Jack had begun working at the site just one year earlier! Another sighting over Fort Monmouth is also listed in Dolan’s book: July 1, 1952. On that date, Dolan notes that radar and visual contact occurred of two unidentified flying objects which hovered over the base, then sped away.
Dan now believes that his father may very well have witnessed one, if not both, of those events – UFO sightings that took place directly overhead his dad’s then very new place of employment!
On February 19, 2018, almost a year after his dad’s passing, Dan phoned his mother, Joan, 83 at the time (his father’s first wife), to ask her what, if anything, she might remember about his father’s work at the base. She told him a story he’d never heard before: “Very early on in your father’s career at Fort Monmouth, they took him down into the vaults, and spoke to him, and showed him something down there that they said was highly top secret. He was not to ever share what he saw down there with anyone. I remember he was really frightened when he came home – in fact, he was scared shitless. Your father was never the same after that.”
To this day, Joan Harary believes that whatever Jack saw that day “had to be something truly extraordinary. Whether it was an Alien body or a piece of a flying saucer, who knows? If I had to guess, I’d say it might have been something extra-terrestrial to have frightened him to that degree.”
Any knowledge of UFOs and/or Aliens Jack Harary may have had, he took with him to his final resting place – the base of a beautiful tree in La Jolla Park, in La Jolla, CA. There, Dan and his brothers scattered their wonderful father’s ashes in May 2017.
