Capital Post Production (CPP), a Virginia-based post-production company, was recently selected by Potomac Pictures to edit and mix a series of commercials and PSAs for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The paid spots had a national media buy, first airing during the Notre Dame v. Navy Game on November 1st. The nationwide cable and broadcast buys will begin during the Country Music Association Awards airing on ABC on November 5th.

For Mike Taylor of Potomac Pictures, Capital Post Production and its finishing artist Bob Tyskowski, was an obvious choice. “I’ve known, and worked with, Bob for many years,” he says. “His skill and attention to detail with compositing, grading and graphic layout is unsurpassed. The added bonus was having the extensive audio capabilities of Capital Post Production under the same roof.  Working with CPP Vice President, Chip Sovek, made it a seamless post production process.”

Both the commercials and PSAs highlight the VA’s recruiting and retention program, and its ability to attract health care professionals from highly accredited medical schools nationwide. The purpose of the project is to communicate the collective efforts of the VA professionals in helping veterans not only survive their injuries, but to enjoy life again. The paid spots were created to recruit doctors, nurses and other medical health professionals to work at VA hospitals, while the PSAs are geared toward the general public, with a focus on those who work at VA hospitals.

Potomac Pictures, contracted by JWT Inside-DC, produced and directed the series, which was shot in Zuma Beach, Malibu and the Veterans Sepulveda Ambulatory Care Center in North Hills,California. Actual VA doctors and real-life veterans served as the talent and were the focal point in all the spots.
