How do you sizzle in a hot city like Miami? You build a successful team that is creative and knows how to develop relationships with clients by staying ahead of the curve and this has allowed Vapor Post Miami to grow in what has been a tough economic climate.
Vapor Post President Mike Dowd summed up the company’s secret with one word, “Talent. If you have the right talent, clients will give you a shot. That’s usually what brings the work in the door to begin with and keeps it coming back. Vapor’s talent is as strong a team as you will find in any major market, so Vapor Post continues to remain busy. We recently completed work that includes spots for H&R Block, Chase Bank and Best Buy for agencies Alma DDB, Zubi Advertising and La Comunidad, among many others.”
Building an exceptional team has always been a priority for Vapor, with their most recent addition in 2009 of award-winning editor Jorge Vallejo, who now heads up Vapor’s Creative Editorial and for Jorge; every job requires a different set of problem-solving skills.
“Today” he says “post houses like Vapor take on a larger role when it comes to the new digital workflow. For instance, we just completed a big project for Chase that involved editing on set in Mexico, Creative Editorial at Vapor in Miami, music and sound design in Argentina and Visual Effects done in New York at The Mill!”
Additionally, Bob Cobb – who was recently promoted to Visual Effects Supervisor – describes the collaboration process internally and with clients.
Says Cobb, “Working with Alma DDB on a recent “Visit Florida” TV campaign we came up with a great way of utilizing still photography developed for their print ads. This allowed them to get more out of their budget and have interesting and compelling spots at the same time. Visit Florida relied on our team’s creativity to add to their initial concept. It’s that collaborative effort that makes each project uniquely challenging and rewarding at the same time.”
Being successful means keeping a diverse portfolio of clients.
Vapor Post has managed to do that by investing in its multi-media talent as well. Of course, talent is only part of the ingredient to be successful, according to Alan Olem, VP Director of Sales & Marketing for Vapor Post.
“Our team and their ability to interact and understand our clients needs is a big part of the equation. The other part is the atmosphere that we have created at Vapor Post. It’s about having fun and enjoying what you do. That message comes through loud and clear.” Olem adds, “Miami is a great place to work and our clients are not just local, but from different markets across the country.”
Located in Miami’s trendy Design District, Vapor Post offers a full range of post services from editorial, sound and finishing to design +VFX. Vapor Post has also continued to hold onto its strong agency client base, while also new attracting new agency work.
Vapor Post along with its strategic alliance with Digiworks allows the team to offer clients more non-traditional options through social media platforms, viral videos and phone applications. Proof positive of this is when Vapor was recently awarded a multi-year Government contract to create content for the National Museum of the U.S. Army and has been working with companies like The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida creating videos for their water shows integrating sound design and VFX.
