Two-time EMMY Award winning composer Randy Lee has scored his first feature film Cayman Went, starring Michael Lombardi (Rescue Me), Jeff DeMunn (Shawshank Redemption) and Susan Misner (Gossip Girl). Based on an original story by Jim Ritterhoff, Creative Director at Chowder Inc., Cayman Went began as a labor of love. Jim recruited his good friend, director Bobby Sheehan of Working Pictures, to help realize his dream of making the film. Sheehan, in turn, recruited cinematographer Russell Swanson; colorist Les Rudge, Nice Shoes; and composer Randy Lee, Limebeat.
Cayman Went is the heart-warming story of a fading Hollywood action star whose life takes on new meaning when he is forced to spend time with the endearing inhabitants of a tiny Caribbean island. It’s a tale of friendship, love and life changing decisions. Randy Lee created a thoughtful and sensitive score that weaves together the diverse characters and complex relationships with the simple, overwhelming beauty of the islands.
“It’s a really great story and the film is gorgeous” says Lee. “I approached the score in a classic style with themes for characters, relationships and location.” Ritterhoff adds, “There is a lot of emotion and drama that evolves over the course of the film. I think Randy was successful in bringing this out without being over bearing. The score is subtle yet still memorable. You will walk away, as we all have, humming the music.”
Randy has composed original music for award winning campaigns for Wendy’s, Colgate, Bertolli, Abreva, Rolling Rock, ESPN and many more. Randy has won Board’s magazine’s First Boards Award, two EMMY’s, Several Telly’s and a Cannes Gold Lion. This is his first feature film.
Cayman Went begins a limited theatrical release on June 5th in New York, Miami and Tampa. Television, internet and DVD releases to follow later this year. There was a red carpet premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood on Wednesday, May 27th.
