Just when America truly needs a hero, two network television comedy marketing executives have come to the rescue. Working on their own time during nights and weekends with a talented cast and crew, the duo have created an original comedy web series entitled “Captain Alpha Male,” which will hit the “Web-Waves” on July 16, 2009. Web television’s boldest new action hero comedy series stars “a middle management superhero with a graying beard and an affection for business casual.” “Captain Alpha Male” will also feature the last-ever on-camera performance by the late, renowned movie trailer “voice over guy,” Don La Fontaine (“In A World…”)

“Captain Alpha Male” represents a fresh idea wrapped around a novel concept: An office-based middle management superhero and his team of unusual heroes. The show’s motto? “Truth. Justice. Paperwork.” The series will initially launch with a six-episode first season, with each episode running five-minutes in length.
Says series co-creator Jay Lutsky, “The original idea for ‘Captain Alpha Male’ came to me from my desire to get into the world of original web content. But without much free time between my job and my family, I had the idea to turn the time I’ve been wasting stuck in LA traffic, into something fun that would give me a little creative outlet. The result was ‘Captain Alpha Male,’ the world’s first middle management superhero! For the first time ever, our series will take viewers inside the day-to-day grind, the office politics, the heroic and not-so-heroic moments in the life of a corporate superhero.”
Lutsky continues, “I have long had a fascination with the world of web content, and I think the platform is unlike any other, offering original content creators tremendous potential. We look forward to growing our show’s characters, and striving to make the show more inventive, interactive, more original and just plain funnier with each future episode.”
Adds series co-creator and former sitcom writer Dan Greenberger, “The short-form video format is something Jay and I are very comfortable with — in our business, you learn how to get to the point, and tell a story fast. We shot this new show in a manner that can play as a series of short pieces, and/or can also play as a continuous single camera half-hour comedy. Our plan is to debut this web-series starting on July 16th and then roll it out during the course of this summer, while we try to create a buzz and build an audience around it. We are hopeful that a sponsor will come on board for future episodes.”
Greenberger continues, “We, the cast and the crew behind ‘Captain Alpha Male,’ all have full time jobs, so this was truly a labor of loveโand debt. Everyone worked for deferred payments on nights and weekends, and some day we really, really hope to pay everyone back!”

Over the past 25 years, La Fontaine cemented his position as the "King of Voiceovers." Aside from being the preeminent voice in the movie trailer industry (and known for his signature phrase “In a worldโฆ”), Don also worked as the voice of “Entertainment Tonight” and “The Insider,” as well as for CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox and UPN, in addition to TNT, TBS and the Cartoon Network. By conservative estimates, he voiced hundreds of thousands of television and radio spots, including commercials for Chevrolet, Pontiac, Ford, Budweiser, McDonalds, Coke, and many other corporate sponsors.
