Avid Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVID) today announced that TV2, the leading broadcaster in Denmark, has launched two new state-of-the-art Avid® TV-production facilities in Copenhagen and Odense. In efforts to make its news production process more efficient, TV2 Denmark has deployed an end-to-end digital production workflow which includes Avid Unity™ ISIS®, Avid Interplay® with Assist and Access, Avid Productivity Tools, Avid iNEWS® Instinct®, NewsCutter® XP, and an upgrade to Avid’s latest iNEWS newsroom computer system.
“We chose Avid because we needed a digital production workflow that was reliable, stable and didn’t allow any room for error. As a broadcaster, it’s critical that we have a solution that allows us to get to air quickly and is designed to work in the way we do business,” said Kjeld Skovlund, TV2 head of development. “Avid was instrumental in securing a smooth change management process and provided acute technical support, service and employee training, which were extremely important to us.”
TV2 developed its new facility in a three-step process:
1. Established a new production site in Copenhagen for its news and sports units;
2. Expanded its main production site in Odense to produce news and sports; and
3. Delivered a managed services solution for the startup of its 24-hour news channel, TV2 News.
Over the course of three months, Avid worked with TV2 News to build a temporary production site from scratch and managed workflow analysis, design and installation of the end-to-end digital production system. Parallel to this, Avid established TV2’s permanent production sites for TV2’s main site in Copenhagen, and managed the technical process of consolidating four sites into one – from delivery of software solutions and hardware to installation and handling of service and training.
“TV2 Denmark, like many broadcasters around the world, is facing numerous difficult transitions in the broadcast industry – and building a new facility can add to the challenge. But, with this new state-of-the-art facility, and an Avid infrastructure tailor-built for news production, TV2 will become one of the most innovative stations in Europe,” said Johnathon Howard, director of Broadcast Media & Publishing, Avid Technology, Inc. “We’re honored to have been a part of helping build one of the biggest TV station facilities in Denmark, and are confident we’ll help TV2 achieve its goals of having a centralized and integrated production environment for its two main sites.”
