Matt Miller, President and CEO of the Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP), today announced that tickets for 2014 AICP Week are now available. AICP Week will take place from June 10th-June 12th at various locations in New York City and will be headlined by the premieres of the 2014 AICP Next Awards, the Directors Lecture Series and the AICP Show: The Art and Technique of the American Commercial. Miller also announced the debut of AICP Week Base Camp, which will serve as a central location for the week, featuring educational panels and discussions, as well as a meeting place and hospitality hub for those attending any of the AICP Week tent pole events. Discussion topics at Base Camp include: panels with the AICP Next Awards Jury Presidents and Integrated Campaign winners; a session with the AICP Show Curators, as well as panels on Digital Best Practices and cameras and workflow. A full schedule of events for AICP Week, and events at the Base Camp can be viewed here.
“The AICP Awards continue to grow both in size and significance. This year’s AICP Week will be an exciting time for our industry,” Miller noted. “In addition to our pillar events, this year’s advent of AICP Week Base Camp will serve as a do-all gathering place, where our industry can come together to discuss business, learn about the latest trends at one of the sessions, or just recharge their batteries (personal and phone) in a lounge-type atmosphere.”
Now in their 8th year, The 2014 AICP Next Awards will take place at NYU’s Skirball Center on Tuesday, June 10th. Gerry Graf, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Barton F. Graf 9000, and the Next Awards Judging Chair will serve as emcee at the event. The AICP Next Awards honor advertising across eight categories: Integrated Campaign, Viral/Web Film, Website/Microsite, Product Integration, Experiential, Mobile, Social and Cause Marketing. Winners in these categories will be announced, with winners in the Integrated Campaign category presenting case studies of their winning work. The Most Next Award will also be presented to the work that best exemplifies the mission of the Next Awards, accompanied by a grant to an educational institution of the Most Next recipient's choosing.
On Wednesday afternoon, June 11th, the Directors Lecture Series will take center stage at The Museum of Modern Art. This year will feature three of the biggest directors in the business: Ringan Ledwidge of Rattling Stick, Noam Murro of Biscuit Filmworks, and Keith Schofield of Caviar. Each director will present a retrospective on his career and discuss their thoughts on the evolution of the industry.
The 23rd Annual AICP Show, The Art & Technique of the American Commercial, is a compendium of exceptional commercials chosen for honors in 22 technical and artistic categories. The 2014 AICP Show Chairman is Michael Sagol, Managing Director/Executive Producer at Caviar. About AICP
Founded in 1972, the AICP represents, exclusively, the interests of United States companies that specialize in producing commercials in various media—film, video, digital—for advertisers and agencies. The association, with national offices in New York and Los Angeles as well as regional chapters across the country, serves as a strong collective voice for this $5-plus billion industry, disseminating information; representing the production industry within the advertising community, in business circles, in labor negotiations and before governmental officials; developing industry standards and tools; providing professional development; and marketing American production. www.aicp.com
