Outstanding Sound Editing for NonFiction Programming and Outstanding Sound Mixing for NonFiction Programming
Therapy Content's HBO docu-series Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways, directed by rock icon Dave Grohl, won two of its four Emmy® nominations on Saturday. The series collected trophies for Outstanding Sound Editing For Nonfiction Programming and Outstanding Sound Mixing For Nonfiction Programming.
The acclaimed series follows the Foo Fighters’ recording odyssey through eight historically significant studios across America. Sonic Highways was executive produced by Dave Grohl, James A. Rota, and John Ramsay, and produced for HBO by Roswell Films and Therapy Content.
The project continues Therapy’s longstanding relationship with musician-turned-director Dave Grohl. The Santa Monica-based studio previously produced Grohl’s feature film debut (led by John Ramsay and Jim Rota) with the Grammy®-winning 2013 documentary Sound City about the history of the legendary Van Nuys studio of the same name.
The talented team at Therapy Studios, sister company to Therapy Content, took on the full spectrum of editorial, sound and post-production work for the Sonic Highways. Therapy editors Meg Ramsay, Grant MacDowell, Kristin McCasey, Scott Hanson, and Lenny Mesina each handled episodes, while audio artists Eddie Kim and Jeff Fuller completed sound design and mixing. Omar Inguanzo, Wren Waters, Cary Welton and Rachel Moorer tackled color and finishing. The opening title sequence was designed by Therapy’s partner design company, Visual Creatures.
