Technicolor PostWorks New York Chief Technology Officer Joe Beirne and Director of Technology Matthew Schneider will offer advice on working with 4K and HDR media in a special session of the Avid Customer Association’s The Future in Motion Conference in Las Vegas. Beirne and Schneider will discuss strategies for managing 4K projects through the offline, online and finishing process in Avid Media Composer 8.5. They will also describe HDR-based workflows. The Pre-NAB event is scheduled for Saturday, April 16th at 5:15pm at the Wynn Las Vegas.
Schneider will also participate in a panel discussion titled Get Your Career Started: Practical Advice for Independent Producers: The Post Pros Weigh In. That evens is slated for Sunday, April 17th at 11:00am at the same location. The session will focus on career advice for those contemplating a career in editing.
During NAB, Beirne will participate in two technology panels related to HDR. On Monday, April 18th at 11:30am, he will be featured in AbelCine’s Teradek Show on “HDR & Beyond 4K.” It will be held at the AbelCine booth (C9515). On Wednesday, April 19th at 2:00 pm, he will take part in a panel discussion sponsored by Digital Cinema Society entitled HDR: Will It Change the Way We Work? It will be live-streamed on the DCS website, www.digitalcinemasociety.org
Additionally, Schneider and Technicolor PostWorks Senior Finishing Editor Mike Nuget will conduct a demonstration of FilmLight’s Baselight for Avid plugin. The demo is scheduled for Monday, April 18th at 4:00pm on the main stage of the Avid booth.
Joe Beirne is Chief Technology Officer at Technicolor-PostWorks in New York. He has been a producer and consultant on moving image technology for more than 30 years, doing early work in HDTV, digital non-linear post-production and the digital intermediate process. He is an active member of SMPTE/HPA, the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM/SIGGRAPH), the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE), the IEEE, and the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA).
Matthew Schneider leads the research and workflow development effort at Technicolor PostWorks through the Test Lab. He assists clients in workflow design and implementation, and other issues related to digital camera systems and formats. He also serves as liaison to Avid and other technology manufacturers to assist in product development and client support. Prior to joining Technicolor PostWorks New York in 2003, Schneider worked as a support engineer for Avid Technology, where he assisted with large-scale broadcast network deployments and workflow design for feature film and television clients.
