Syndrome Studio, an award winning creative studio specializing in design and animation for major entertainment, advertising and brand clients, has just created a comprehensive, on-air and on-stage graphics package for the 2017 “People’s Choice Awards.” The awards show, which aired on CBS on January 18th, was the 7th consecutive year that Syndrome Studio worked closely with Mark Burnett Productions to create the broadcast and stage content for the event.

Jane Y. Munn, the Show Runner for the “People’s Choice Awards,” said, “Syndrome does it again. Their commitment and dedication on not just getting the job done but getting it beyond right is why I keep coming back to them. Working with Micah and Mars is a producer's dream!”

The “People’s Choice Awards” Executive Producer Kimmie Kim said, "The team at Syndrome understands various challenges in the production of live shows and they are able to adjust to any last minute changes. They are always professional and excellent collaborators."

Screen Producer Laura Frank said, “Syndrome is an excellent creative partner to the  ‘People’s Choice Awards.’ Having one team deliver the broadcast and scenic graphics allows us to tie the show visually together to great success. These are not common skill sets to find in one team, and I am grateful for Syndrome’s commitment to explore the complexities of graphics for scenery. They make fantastically pretty pixels.”

Adds Kevin Hermanson, a Producer of the 2017 “People’s Choice Awards,” “Syndrome's aptitude for innovation and creativity is matched with their strong work ethic, and good spirits. They are an excellent partner to do business with.”

Syndrome Studio has carved out a name for itself by specializing in broadcast and on-stage graphics for high profile, live television awards specials. In addition to the “People’s Choice Awards,” Syndrome has designed award show packages for the MTV Movie Awards, the Primetime Emmys, the GLAAD Awards, IFC’s Independent Spirit Awards, the College Television Awards, the PETA Awards, and many others.

“For us, one of the best aspects of award shows is building up a graphic experience around the show's theme and our client's vision," said Syndrome founders and Creative Directors Micah Hancock and Mars Sandoval. "We love creating a cohesive design system that begins with the show logo and extends to the stage graphics and then scales out to the on-air package. It's very rewarding when all of these layers flow together to create a seamless and unified experience."

On the challenges of creating graphics for large scale award shows, Sandoval and Hancock explain, "With a big show that unfolds live on the air like the ‘PCA’s,’ you have to be ready for anything. Our job is to provide enough material to constantly keep things fresh for the viewers, and cover any unforeseen changes that are the nature of a live broadcast. Our approach was to create a modular package of interchangeable graphic elements that would allow a good degree of flexibility right up to the last critical minute, when the show is being edited on the fly and broadcast live.  Collaboration is key throughout the whole process."

Following the “People’s Choice Awards,” Syndrome Studio will be creating broadcast and stage packages for the 48th annual NAACP Image Awards, airing live on TV One on February 11th, 2017.
