The Sweet Shop is proud to announce that two feature films from in-house talent have been selected to premiere at the upcoming 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Held in and around Park City, Utah on January 17-27, the festival is widely regarded as the top US showcase for independent film and a significant stepping-stone for fresh, creative storytellers worldwide.
Creative duo Mark & Louis’ (Mark Albiston and Louis Sutherland) feature film “Shopping” was selected as one of twelve films to compete in the World Cinema Dramatic category which aims to highlight emerging talent from around the globe. Set in 1981 New Zealand, Shopping tells the story of two teenage brothers torn apart after a charismatic career criminal seduces one of them into a life of crime. Circumstances come to a head when one is forced to choose between family and friends or risk devastating consequences.
Also in exhibition will be Alexandre Moors’ “Blue Caprice,” which will play as a part of Sundance’s NEXT category; a digital series designed to highlight work with an innovative, forward-thinking approach to storytelling. Moors’ film, which stars Isaiah Washington (Grey’s Anatomy) and Tequan Richmond (Everybody Hates Chris), is a carefully constructed character study that takes a harrowing look at the people and events central to the famed Beltway sniper attacks that terrorized the Washington D.C. area in 2002.
