Stun Creative, an award winning advertising agency and production company based in Los Angeles, has produced and shot the 2011 “Summer by Bravo” promotional campaign for the cable network. The campaign, comprised of a 60-second spot, along with several additional 30-second spots, has a summer camp theme and features over 20 of Bravo’s popular talent. This new summer spot follows the enormous success of last year’s rooftop party spot, where the Bravolebrities co-mingled for the first time in a network brand spot. Stun Creative also produced and shot that campaign.
The 2011 “Summer by Bravo” spot, set against the brand new Britney Spears song “I Wanna Go,” presents these Bravolebrities attending summer camp where they engage in a variety of activities, ranging from archery and ping pong, to trust exercises and a campfire party. Each of the fun activities was designed to underscore the stars’ unique personalities, rivalries and relationships with each other – including one “Housewife” shooting an apple off the head of another with an arrow. And although everyone is in a camp setting, it is most definitely a Bravo version of camping: Stylish, pop and more akin to “Glamping” (glamour + camping).

Surprisingly, the entire campaign was not shot at a campground or even outdoors, but rather against a giant three walled blue screen. Stun produced the four-day shoot at soundstages in Brooklyn and Los Angeles, where they built fashionable log cabins and anything else that the talent would have physical contact with. These background settings were composited with mountains, trees and a lake through visual effects. This approach gives the campaign a lush, hyper-real visual style, befitting the larger-than-life personalities of the Bravo stars.
Bravo SVP Marketing Trez Thomas said, “For a second year, we conceived a very ambitious summer campaign to showcase our Bravolebrities and summer series. The entire Stun team did a spectacular job making our vision a reality.”
Adds Amy Troiano, VP On-Air Promotion, “From planning and executing the visual effects, to shepherding numerous Bravo talent, this project was complicated from beginning to end. Partnering with Stun was definitely the right choice to bring our summer camp to life in an amazing way.”
Stun Creative principals Brad Roth and Mark Feldstein said, “After teaming up with our friends at Bravo on last year’s Summer campaign, the pressure was on to top ourselves. Going from a rooftop party to this year’s stylized summer camp extravaganza was the perfect way to feature the amazing Bravo talent in all their glory. This was such a fun experience — we couldn’t be more excited with how the spots turned out. What a terrific collaboration.”
