Xytech Systems Corporation, a leading provider of software solutions that improve, automate, and streamline the mission critical business aspects of media operations including business workflow, resource scheduling, media library management, and digital workflow automation, announced today that New Hat, Santa Monica, CA, has selected Xytech software to manage its production operations.
New Hat was established early this year by a group of post production legends including Bob Festa, Clark Muller, and Darby Walker, with support from engineering guru Mike Waldie. They specialize in scanning and color correction with the use of two Spirit 4K scanners connected to a common SAN via two Bones workstations.
The company was designed around a real-time 2K/4K data centric workflow and has the ability to ingest dailies lab reels in parallel without compromising quality, giving them a massive speed boost at the start of the digital intermediate process. Color processing at New Hat is performed using the Pandora Revolution with Yoyo for nonlinear work. This provides colorists with an identical user interface and toolset regardless of whether they are performing conventional film color grading or nonlinear grading from the SAN of either film or digitally-originated material.
In order to keep up with the speed with which projects will run thru the technical infrastructure of New Hat, they needed an integrated and more automated solution for managing work orders from start till billing, scheduling resources and facilities as well as tracking assets for the multi-purpose creative suites.
New Hat considered building its own in-house system using various spreadsheets and databases, but realized that the media business software from Xytech Systems would provide them with a better solution for managing their business and accelerating the process from order to invoice. The Xytech resource and facilities management software provides them now with the flexibility to adapt their operation to the constantly changing business environment.
New Hat will utilize Xytech on their Apple Macintosh equipment, through either a remote terminal connection and/or the use of a Windows emulation utility.
New Hat Co-Founder Darby Walker comments, “Having an end-to-end integrated software solution that could handle a data centric workflow, plus all the other business applications, was critical to us. The Xytech software allows us to meet internal and external needs, especially as we ‘go-live’ quickly, and will let us grow in moving forward.”
Ron Peeters, Executive Vice President, Xytech Systems Corporation, states, “The founders of New Hat are post production industry legends and their selection of the Xytech software to manage their operation is reflective of Xytech’s powerful solution. We’re pleased that New Hat chose Xytech to manage their business operations with a focus on supporting their digital centric workflows. Xytech software’s robust functionality and flexibility lends itself ideally to cutting edge facilities such as New Hat.”
