MINNEAPOLIS -- (SPW) -- Creative studio SPLICE® has welcomed Motion Designer Jeremy Frye to the company’s expanding team. Growing up in the iconic decade of the ‘80s, Motion Designer Jeremy Frye couldn’t have known that his love of metal videos and cartoons would one day lead him to SPLICE. But he did know that he was onto something.
“There’s nothing more intoxicating to an adolescent male than loud rock ‘n roll and the explosion of Saturday morning cartoons,” says Frye. “The combination of these two elements led me to start creating my own little home movies. This sparked my interest in title sequences and eventually motion graphics.”
As a young man, Jeremy loved to draw and gravitated toward art, and it wasn’t long before he was training as a traditional Graphic Designer. But it was a chance opportunity to animate type for a theatrical spot that solidified his path towards Motion Graphics. “Once that spot ran and I saw it on the screen – I knew that my profession was going to change,” notes Frye.
As SPLICE Partner Barb Condit puts it: “Who would have guessed what an effect that single moment would have one day for our studio? Jeremy brings an extraordinary amount of experience to our team,” she explains. “He has a unique perspective that allows us to think outside the box, which is the cornerstone of leading-edge work.”
A recipient of a 2012 EMMY in Graphic Arts Animation, Frye has worked for huge corporations such as Amazon and “The Chicago Tribune,” as well as small boutique post houses and interactive firms. Harnessing nearly 15 years of professional experience, Frye’s passion for Graphic Design and Motion Graphics is matched only by a love of music and BBQ.
At SPLICE, Frye has already developed a reputation for striking visuals that immediately capture a particular mood. Frye recently launched a SPLICE Facebook campaign, “Motion Monday with Jeremy Frye.” Each Monday, he posts an inspirational piece of work not created by the studio, but one that he finds particularly interesting or noteworthy.
“At the end of the day,” concludes Frye, “I consider myself one of the luckiest people alive. I get to use my passion for art, design and editing to produce kick-ass motion graphics.”
