One of the year’s most highly acclaimed films, “Silver Linings Playbook,” written and directed by David O. Russell, has won four awards including “Best Film of the Year” at Capri, Hollywood – The International Film Festival, which ended here today. In addition, the multi Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominated motion picture won the Capri Audience Award, the film’s extraordinary cast, which includes Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert DeNiro, Jacki Weaver, Chris Tucker and Julia Styles has received the Best Acting Ensemble of the Year Award and Bradley Cooper has been named Best Actor.
“Beasts of the Southern Wild” was named Best Surprise Film of the Year and its star Quvenzhane Wallis was named Best Actress; Juan Antonio Bayona was named Best Director for The Impossible and Ariel Vroman was named Best Breakout Director for The Iceman. Other honors bestowed by the Festival include the Capri, Hollywood Legend Award to iconic actor Franco Nero, the Capri Cult Award to director Antoine Fuqua, the Best Short Film Award to Edoardo Ponti for “The Night Shift Belongs to the Stars” which is on the short list for an Academy Award® nomination, and the European Actress of the Year Award to the German actress Nina Hoss (Barbara).
Gerard Butler, who just completed a role in Fuqua’s upcoming action film “Olympus Has Fallen,” presented the director’s award. Cooper’s award will be presented later this month at a special ceremony in Rome coincidental with “Silver Lining Playbook’s” Italian premiere.
