Signiant®, Inc., the leading developer of digital media distribution management solutions for the telco, media and entertainment industries, today introduced the Signiant Media Solution – a turn-key software solution that integrates with Avid® Interplay® and Avid TransferManager. The solution is designed to simplify and accelerate collaborative news and post-production workflows by enabling global sharing and editing of digital media content. The Media Solution works in a secure environment and integrates with Avid TransferManager version 2.9.7 and Avid Interplay Transfer Engine v1.2.1 or higher.
In today’s post-production environment, content is moved across an increasingly complex and geographically disparate network infrastructure, while content size and volume continues to increase due to the SD to HD transition. New distribution models are emerging and time-to-market for content has never been more important. Signiant’s new Media Solution enables Avid Interplay and Avid TransferManager customers to efficiently exchange source media, despite all of these complex variables, providing native application and accelerated file transfers between Avid workgroups, regardless of geographic location and file size.
With Signiant’s Media Solution, post-production professionals using Avid Interplay or Avid TransferManager can overcome the delays and unpredictability associated with sending files long distances, across the WAN and other highly latent infrastructures. The solution provides performance improvements of up to 200 times TCP/IP and real-time feedback on transfer status, including automatic success and failure notifications. With Signiant, users can centrally manage and prioritize transfers with other traffic on the network, ensuring that priority files are afforded the appropriate bandwidth given their importance over other content.
“With Signiant’s Media Solution, Avid to Avid transfers across the WAN have become substantially faster and more reliable, enabling post-production teams to edit their work quickly. We’ve already seen how this provides for fast turnaround of scenes, provides critical feedback to the production crew, and even affords opportunities to re-shoot on the same day, which can save producers thousands of dollars, ” said Tom Ohanian, chief strategy officer, Signiant. “It is also extremely easy to use because there is no learning curve – the system works with the Avid TransferManager interface and files stay in an Avid-native format.”
The product will be generally available in Spring 2008. Signiant will demonstrate product capabilities in booth SL13213 next week at NAB. To schedule a demo, please contact nab@signiant.com.
