MPSE and CAS Charity Golf and Poker Tournament Raises Funds For Scholarship Fund

Dozens of entertainment sound professionals put their golf and poker skills to the test in the MPSE & CAS Annual Charity Golf and Poker Tournament October 14th at Angeles National Golf Club in Sunland, California. The event raised funds for in the MPSE’s Ethel Crutcher Scholarship Fund, which provides mentoring and support for student sound artists, and afforded an opportunity for the two organizations’ members to relax and have fun.
The event’s scramble-style golf tournament was won by Team Dub Stage with each of its members (Mike Garcia, Brad Wilson, Kyle Clausen and Kevin Bartley) receiving $250 gift certificates from Roger Dunn Golf Shops. Taking second and third place were Team Sony (Duke Lim, Steve Demko, John Naveira and Peck Prior) and Team Formosa Audio Group (Ron Bartlett, Elliot Koretz, James Bartlett and John Wiseman).
Monkeyland Audio owner Trip Brock, MPSE won the poker tournament and its prize of a trip to Las Vegas. CAS Secretary David Bondelevitch, MPSE and Thierry Couturier, MPSE placed second and third. The day climaxed with a raffle and awards dinner. The MPSE also began its annual membership drive at the event. Cinema Audio Society President Mark Ulano served as honorary chairman.
Sponsors included Dolby Laboratories Inc., Formosa Audio Group, The NAMM Show, Technicolor, NBC Universal Studio Post and MPEG.
