The 16th edition of the Milan Film Festival pays tribute to music supervisor and New York-based Search Party Music founder/producer Randall Poster. On September 14th in Milan, Italy, Poster will discuss the art of music selection for features, TV series and commercials in the master class, Fantastic Mister Poster. Selections from his vast filmography, including I’m Not There, Jesus’ Son and The School of Rock, as well as other films like American Graffiti and Drugstore Cowboy will be on topic and screened throughout the week. The evening will conclude with an exclusive DJ set from the man himself.
Poster has supervised soundtracks for more than 90 films, including KIDS, Rushmore, Boys Don’t Cry, Up In the Air and Old School to name a few, and frequently collaborates with the likes of Martin Scorsese, Wes Anderson, Danny Boyle, Todd Haynes, Todd Phillips and Richard Linklater. His recent credits include The Hangover II and HBO’s award-winning series Mildred Pierce. Poster also recently produced the chart-topping album, Rave On Buddy Holly, a tribute to the late rocker featuring covers from Paul McCartney, The Black Keys and Modest Mouse among others.
The Milan Film Festival runs from September 9th to September 18th. Lauded filmmaker Jonathan Demme will also be honored at the festival with a complete retrospective, screening all of his features and documentaries.
