Sapient (NASDAQ: SAPE) today announced the appointment of Jane Barratt as managing director of its Sapient Interactive New York office. Barratt, a renowned global branding and marketing communications expert who served as managing director of Euro RSCG 4D New York, will oversee the New York operations of Sapient Interactive, Sapient’s marketing services group. In this capacity, she will lead business development, agency operations and account management of leading brand clients.
Prior to joining Sapient, Barratt was a consultant to WPP, establishing teams, systems and processes for successful global marketing operations.
Previously, as managing director of Euro RSCG 4D New York, Barratt managed the growth and profitability of this highly successful digital and direct marketing agency. As managing director, her broad range of responsibilities included new business, scope expansion, integration with offline agencies and client management of leading global brands such as Volvo, Proctor & Gamble, IBM, Conde Nast and Charles Schwab. Prior to this, Barratt served as international brand director for Euro RSCG Worldwide. In this capacity, she was responsible for brand management and operations for the Intel account, which spanned 24 key countries and comprised advertising, marketing services and interactive marketing across consumer, business and channel segments. During this time, she was named one of Advertising Age’s “Women to Watch.”
“Jane is known for her unique ability to plan and drive the effective integration of brand messaging across all media channels – both online and offline – for some of the world’s best-known companies,” said Sapient Chief Creative Officer, Gaston Legorburu. “We are thrilled to have Jane join our team at a time when our business continues to grow rapidly in North America and Europe. She brings a depth of global experience, brand insight and marketing talent that our growing roster of marquee clients will certainly value and appreciate.”
“I am thrilled to join Sapient at such an exciting time in the global advertising industry,” said Barratt. “As the online channel emerges as the most effective way to drive customer acquisition and retention, Sapient has cracked the code on how to truly deliver a more powerful and differentiated online presence for major brands. Unlike traditional agencies or interactive boutiques, only Sapient blends outstanding creative talent with real technology and business expertise. This unique approach allows Sapient to cut through the noise to deliver clients a more compelling overall brand experience for their customers.”
Before ascending to the international brand director position at Euro RSCG Worldwide, Barratt served as managing director of Euro RSCG Partnership, where she was responsible for the management and profitability of the Hong Kong agency and the regional Interactive practice, with staff across Asia Pacific. During this time she worked with marquee clients such as Intel, Microsoft, Worldcom, CNN, Dell and Citibank.
Barratt also served as regional marketing manager for Gateway Computers in Singapore, where she drove the planning and development of all sales and brand activity during the launch of Gateway in Southeast Asia. Previously, Barratt worked for Euro RSCG in Australia, managing direct marketing for Telstra—that country’s largest telecommunications provider. Shortly thereafter, she went to Malaysia to oversee the direct and database offering of the agency, while managing the Disney, Time Telecom and Philips accounts.
Barratt holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in marketing from Bond University in Australia. She also holds a diploma of business from RMIT in Australia.
