SALT Creative Director/Editor Ian Douglass worked with SPY+Optic and Director Jason Baffa to cut “Tour of California.” The spot, which features Spy athlete and 2011 U.S. National Road Race Champion Matthew Bushe and mountain bike freestyle rider Mike Montgomery as Bushe’s stunt double, is based on a playful idea of a rider’s dream of hitting the mountainous trails on his road bike. n n”Tour of California” opens on Bushe riding the open road along the coast of Southern California. In an instant, we enter Bushe’s imagination through his SPY eyewear and now we are on the mountain trails with him as he does tricks he wouldn’t normally be able to do on his bike. Montgomery performs the bike flip stunt, which is then followed by a transition from the mountain trail back to the open road. Bushe’s smile says it all as the tag reads “not your old man’s eyewear.”n nDouglass notes, “I’m always thrilled when I have the opportunity to work with Director Jason Baffa whose visual efforts are always gorgeous… then couple that with word-smithery of Writer/Creative guru Michael Marckx, and you know you’re making something awesome.” Something awesome is right- the spot has already had over 75,000 views on youtube within 2 days time.n nnTo view work online click here.nnCreditsnClient: SPY+OpticnTitle: Tour of CalifornianEditors: Ian Douglass and Jennifer Ryan, SALTnVFX Artist: Cari Chadwick and Ian Douglass, SALTnPost Producer: Paul Andraos, SALTnDirector: Jason Baffa, Jason Baffa FilmsnProducers: Devon Howard & Michael Marckx, SPY+OpticnDirector of Photography: Scott KassenoffnWriter/Creative: Michael MarckxnComposer: Michael Gatt, GattSoundnnSALT is a design, production and post production studio based in Culver City. Goldcrest Post Speeds Delivery of “Severance” Season Two
The New York Times recently wrote that the just-released Season Two of Severance will “blow your mind”—and we couldn’t agree more. Created by Dan Erickson and Ben Stiller, the Apple TV+ drama is smart, spellbinding, distinctly original and packed with surprises. For those who aren’t already devoted fans, the show centers on Mark Scout (Adam Scott), leader of a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a “severance” procedure that surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. Goldcrest Post provided post services for both seasons of the show, including picture editorial support, sound editorial, ADR and sound mixing. Editorial for Season One began in 2020. Due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, Goldcrest supplied both onsite production offices and edit suites, and remote editing systems for individual editors, with everything linked to a central server. "Mixing at Goldcrest with our team has been a great experience,” says Stiller. “Bob and Jacob are in sync with our creative process and so good at what they do that the experience is always one where it's about how we can enhance the creative vision, with a baseline of knowing everyone is totally committed to making something as good as it can be." Diana Dekajlo, the show’s co-producer, says that the arrangement worked so well, they chose to continue the hybrid approach for Season Two. “We’re a remote friendly show,” she explains. “Whether we’re at Goldcrest, our studio in the Bronx or at home, our workflow is seamless. I conduct remote daily meetings with my immediate staff, and weekly meetings with editorial and VFX, and we talk to each other as if we were just down the hall. It makes for great staff... Read More
