SALT, a Culver City based design, animation and editorial studio, is proud to continue working on DirecTV’s long running commercial campaign highlighting the exemplary advantages DirecTV offers over their competition. nnThe flow and pacing of each spot in the campaign has been crucial in clarifying the message to viewers. But the greatest challenge has been to convey each of these messages as clearly as possible while sustaining the visual appeal of the commercial. nnIn SALT’s latest spot “Channel Compare,” the goal was to emphasize the plethora of channels DirecTV offers compared to Dish Network. This was the first time in this campaign that we find ourselves within the television monitors. Each logo block was created in 3D, and each in their own alternate dimension. The entire studio environment and monitors are also 3D. The playful ‘magical poof’ element was composited on top as the logos disappeared.nnnWatch the spot online here.nnCreditsnnTitle Channel ComparennDirecTVnTracy Bugh, Creative DirectornGwen Garwig, ProducernnSALTnCari Chadwick, Creative DirectornDaesun Hwang, AnimatornPaul Andraos, ProducernnAbout SALTnSALT, founded in 2005, as a design, visual effects, and editorial shop with the idea of doing great work with great people in a professional but relaxed environment.
