Ross Mobile Productions (RMP), a division of Ross Video specializing in mobile sports production, has selected Cartoni fluid heads and tripods for use with its fleet of production vehicles. The company has acquired nine Cartoni Maxima heads, for payloads up to 86 pounds, and six Cartoni Delta heads, for payloads up to 48 pounds, all of which are already in the field and have been used to produce sports programs for such clients as ESPN, Fox, Time Magazine, People Magazine and the University of Miami.
Launched last year RMP has brought innovation to the business of packaged sports broadcast services through the use of high-capability, small-format vehicles that take advantage of Ross Video's powerful Carbonite Series production switchers and XPression real-time motion graphics system. That concept has enabled the company to provide cost effective production services for mid-market sporting events on par with top tier programming.
Currently, RMP operates a fleet of four mobile production vehicles from locations in Florida and New York. The company plans to continue building its fleet and extending its geographic reach with the aim of becoming a source for world-class mobile sports production nationwide.
Cartoni fluid heads and tripods are an integral part of RMP’s unique mobile production model. Both the Maxima and the Delta heads combine ultra-light construction, smooth performance and ease of use, with a low price point. RMP is using the Cartoni head in tandem with a variety of HD camera systems including the Ikegami HDK-95C. “We’ve done a great job in identifying high-end, low-cost alternatives for production, and Cartoni products are an excellent example,” said Mitch Rubenstein, President of Ross Mobile Productions. “We have a lot of confidence in the equipment.”
The Cartoni Maxima is an ideal fit for sophisticated broadcast packages like those employed by RMP. It
features an innovative compact design and Cartoni’s patented counterbalance system for extremely smooth performance and perfect balance throughout the 180° tilt range.
The Cartoni Delta is designed for use with EFP cameras and ENG dockable camcorders with long focal lenses and top mounted viewfinders. Its continuously adjustable fluid-damping mechanism provides extremely smooth and precise camera movements.
RMP has provided mobile production services for numerous sporting events, ranging from basketball and football to cricket and horse jumping. It has also covered a number of red carpet events. Recent projects include the Delray Beach International Tennis Championship. “Our people have been very happy with their experience with the Cartoni heads,” observed Rubenstein. “Cartoni gear is integral to our plans to delivery groundbreaking services to this market.”
