Visual effects studio Rodeo FX is proud to announce it is expanding its network with the opening of an office in Munich, Germany. This is a first chapter on European territory for the company. This new facility, located in the heart of the city, represents not only a gateway to a specialized European workforce, but also the Montreal-based company’s first foray in a promising market. The new studio will be managed by Thomas Hullin, Head of studio, and Julie Kubbillun, VFX Producer.

The Munich studio, which plans to hire about 20 employees within a year, will work closely with Rodeo FX’s offices in Montreal, Quebec and Los Angeles.

"For Rodeo FX, Munich is a major hub for the visual effects market in Europe. The new studio will allow us to expand our production capacity, as well as our business development in the European market," said Sébastien Moreau, Rodeo FX President.

"This new studio allows us to transcend borders by giving us access to a large talent pool across all of Europe. Our presence on site will also facilitate the deployment of new large-scale projects in this region, a challenge that Thomas and Julie are ready to take up," added Jordan Soles, Vice President of technology and development at Rodeo FX.

Boasting several years of post-production experience in Europe, Thomas Hullin and Julie Kubbillun first joined Rodeo FX Montreal in 2015. Driven by a common vision and shared values, Sébastien and Thomas began their process of analysis for the opening of a European studio in November 2016.

"We immediately agreed to undertake this adventure. Rodeo FX is an inspiring studio that showcases the great importance of artists and human values. It therefore gives us tremendous pleasure to work on growing the company for the first time in Europe, "added Thomas Hullin.

The new Rodeo FX studio is in the bustling Maxvorstadt district of Munich, Germany. Recruitment is in progress. Artists wishing to apply to new positions can do so at: www.rodeofx.com/en/jobs

Thomas Hullin’s biography
Originally from France, Thomas Hullin moved to Montreal for the first time in 2009 where he obtained his degree in design and 3D animation at the NAD Center. He first carved out his place in the field of visual effects as a freelancer in Montreal. Thomas also visited ILM in Vancouver, where he worked on the Pacific Rim film. In 2015, after a short stint in Germany, he discovered Rodeo FX and moved back to Montreal to work as Lead FX artist. The quality of his work was noticed, especially in the realization of simulations on the Houdini platform, which led him to become Technical Director and CG FX supervisor. His roots, however, brought him back to Europe to perfect his post-production skills. Since November 2016, Thomas Hullin has been actively preparing the opening of the new Rodeo FX studio in Munich as Director of the office. Throughout his career, he has worked on the visual effects of Deadpool, The Legend of Tarzan and the Game of Thrones series, for which he won a VES Award in the category Outstanding Effects Simulations in an Episode, Commercial, or Real-Time Project.
