Visual Effects Studios (RFX), one of the the world's most successful visual effects companies with headquarters in Berlin, whose expertise is in demand on an international level and has already been involved in visual effects for such films and film franchises as Avengers – Age of Ultron, Captain America, Iron Man 3, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. or Harry Potter as well as Marvel´s Doctor Strange or Tom Tykwer's Cloud Atlas, Hologram of a King and currently Babylon Berlin, has now launched its own production subsidiary by creating RISE PICTURES (RPX).
RISE | Visual Effects Studios has expanded its portfolio of high-end visual effects to also include production services. The company will consequently become an even more efficient partner for its international clients. The combination of RISE | Visual Effects Studios and RISE PICTURES will see Germany now having a unique production house that can create and oversee visual worlds from a producer's initial idea through to postproduction.
RISE PICTURES will concentrate in the long term on two production segments. To begin with, the company is focusing on the co-production of national and international film and TV productions with high production budgets and a substantial need for digital effects and computer animation. As a rule, these will be larger commercial projects with involvement from international studios.
In addition, this will include national and international film and TV productions which – by European standards – have medium to high budgets and were developed in-house. Both German- and English-language projects of various genres, adaptations of books and bestsellers, comedies, family entertainment, animated films as well as newcomer films will be considered here for every conceivable target group.
However, what all projects will have in common is their distinctive, modern state-of-the-art look – delivered by RISE | Visual Effects Studios.
RPX will be managed by Ulrich Schwarz who will draw on his international production experience for the company. Most recently, he was responsible as a creative producer at UFA Cinema for the production of The Physician with a budget of 26 million Euros. Ulrich Schwarz was able to attract such A-list stars as Tom Payne, Ben Kingsley, Stellan Skarsgard and Olivier Martinez for this box-office success.
Prior to his time at UFA Cinema, Schwarz had worked for various production companies in the USA and Germany, including Warner Independent Pictures, International Creative Management, Red Wagon Entertainment, New Regency Productions, Wolfgang Petersen’s Radiant Production, Bavaria Film or Dreamtool Entertainment. Ulrich Schwarz received his producer's training at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg and the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
Sven Pannicke, partner of RISE | Visual Effects Studios: „When Florian Gellinger, Robert Pinnow, Markus Degen and I started RISE in 2007, we'd never have thought that we would be working so quickly and closely with the major studios and production houses in Germany as well as around the world. We have since become increasingly integrated into the production process of the film projects we are working on. So, it was just a logical step for us to also serve as a producer. We still see ourselves as being a partner for the studios and our clients, but are now able to come onboard the film projects at an earlier stage and in a new dimension in both creative terms and as a producer. I strongly believe that Uli Schwarz will do his very best in introducing our production unit to the production market thanks to his international expertise and experience in realizing large-budget productions“.
Ulrich Schwarz adds: „RISE is one of the world's top addresses as far as visual effects and animation are concerned. It makes complete sense in the company's current development to now take on the role of a producer and become even more interesting for the major studios and filmmakers from around the world. I am looking forward to my position in an incredibly creative and professional team where I will have an excellent opportunity to contribute my skills, knowledge and contacts.“
