Hires Director/DP Keir Yee
Adding to its already extensive portfolio of creative capabilities, RingSide Creative has formed RSC Productions offering clients content production for broadcast, cinema, and web. The new group will feature newly-hired Director/Director of Photography <a href="http://<a href="(www.ringsidecreative.com)“>(www.ringsidecreative.com).user/kyee”>Keir Yee and Director/Creative Editor <a href="http://<a href="(www.ringsidecreative.com)“>(www.ringsidecreative.com).user/chafner”>Chris Hafner.
RSC Productions will team with RingSide Creative’s creative editorial, visual effects, CGI, motion design, finishing, interactive, print media and sound staff to service the growing number of clients in the advertising, broadcast and music industries seeking integrated creative solutions. “We’ve listened to our clients about their need to work with companies, like RSC, that can provide creatively-structured, rapidly deployed, turnkey services,” says RingSide Creative owner and CEO Doug Cheek. “By adding Keir to our team and expanding Chris’ role, we can now provide those clients with a complete package that will save them time and money, and result in a more cohesive creative product.”
Yee brings broad experience as a director, director of photography, producer and editor to RSC Productions. For the past several years, he has worked as a freelance director and director of photography with credits including commercials for Pontiac, Cadillac, Ford, Chevy, Goodwrench, DOW, Little Caesar’s, Aero Bed and Meijer. Previously, he was a Vice President and Senior Producer at D’Arcy, Detroit, where he set up and ran an in-house production and editorial department. He began his career as an editor working for D’Arcy, J. Walter Thompson and Key Multimedia, among others.
Yee, who has collaborated with RingSide Creative on a number of projects, said that he is excited by the possibilities of working at/for RSC. “As the line between production and post continues to blur, directors and cinematographers need to work more closely with post artists long before production begins,” he observes. “Creative is now based on the fact that there are no limits. Seamless effects keep getting pushed to new heights requiring new levels of collaboration. It’s time to share the spotlight and create new partnerships that blend approaches to tackle the impossible.”
RSC Productions will also allow Hafner, the senior member of RingSide Creative’s editorial team, to pursue more opportunities to work behind the camera. Prior to joining <a href="http://<a href="(www.ringsidecreative.com)“>(www.ringsidecreative.com).“>Ringside Creative in 2005, Hafner, then owner of the Santa Monica editorial house Brass Knuckles, directed a number of projects including music videos for such artists as Nirvana, No Doubt, Tupac and Jay Z.
Work by Yee and Hafner can be viewed on RingSide Creative’s website (<a href="(www.ringsidecreative.com)“>(www.ringsidecreative.com)., whose recent redesign reflects its commitment to innovation and creativity. Designed and developed entirely by the company’s interactive group, the site illustrates RSC’s integrated philosophy, culture of innovation, and belief that its people are what make RingSide “Creative.”

“Ǝvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of Ǝvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? Ǝvolution suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence, Ǝvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating —in the blink of an eye— the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called “progress” may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
With a string of festival appearances across the globe, including CineGlobe at CERN (Switzerland/France), Oscar®... Read More
