Renowned commercial production company SFI (Simpson Films), has named Dante Piacenza as its new Executive Producer. The announcement was made by SFI founder Jerry Simpson.
Regarding the appointment, Simpson said, “Dante brings close to 20 years of experience in the advertising industry, from the agency, production, and post-production sides of the business. He’s a veteran of large-scale productions, music, and visual effects-driven projects, and truly understands what it takes to create a complete experience for our clients.”
At SFI, Piacenza will work on new, re-branding initiatives for SFI itself. These will expand the company’s role as a technologically progressive and creative partner to agencies and advertisers, while also building on SFI’s expertise at streamlining and simplifying the digital production process.
Concurrently, Piacenza and SFI will also continue to pursue new business opportunities for the company, primarily in the areas of documentary films and episodic content.
“Jerry and SFI stand at the cutting edge of production,” Piacenza said. “He continues to redefine how our industry creates visual content with clear and targeted objectives. Joining SFI is a fantastic opportunity, as it allows me to creatively incorporate all of my previous experience, in both commercial and non-commercial content. My role here as EP will allow me to open up new directions for SFI.”
During his career, Piacenza has produced numerous, high profile campaigns for a wide range of major clients, such as AT&T, Dr. Pepper, 7UP, Genworth, Accenture, Budweiser, Xerox, Colgate-Palmolive, Lincoln, and many
others. Prior to joining SFI, Piacenza had been EVP/GM/Executive Producer of Elias Arts’ New York office.
Before Elias, Piacenza was Director of Broadcast at Young & Rubicam, New York. During his nearly ten-year tenure with Y&R, he was responsible for producing many notable, celebrity-driven, campaigns, for some of Y&R’s largest clients. He also initiated and oversaw some of the agency’s first, non-traditional output. His work has been recognized by numerous industry award shows, including AICP and Cannes.

“ฦvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of ฦvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? ฦvolutionย suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence,ย ฦvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating โin the blink of an eyeโ the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called โprogressโ may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
