Hybrid production company Global Mechanic Media’s recent work with FilmBratz and The Red Agency for EPCOR Energy has been selected for the 2011 Applied Arts Annual. Hired by The Red Agency to bring to life the wonderful designs of Nigel Hood. Global Mechanic Media worked with the agency and FilmBratz to bring this delightful story to life. The Annual hits stands May 2011.
This is one of those jobs where expertise in old school animation came in handy. The spot is a combination of live action with cut-out animation that has a real paper and shadows feel. Animated as multiplane elements over a colorful background, an entire world is unveiled through a series of clever camera moves to reveal how life goes on 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Creative directed by Global Mechanic Media’s Bruce Alcock, the work was done by a production team of designers, compositors and animators in their Vancouver studios. “We loved the concept from the moment we heard about it. And now to have the collaboration selected to be part of on of the industry’s more prestigious Annuals- we could not be more excited. Hats off to RED, FilmBratz and everyone who helped to pull this off.”
