A Reasonable Request, directed by Andrew Laurich and written by Laurich and Gabriel Miller, will screen in the Short Film Program at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. The Film Festival takes place January 21-31 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. The Festival is one of the world’s premiere places to debut new independent films and over the course of its more than 30-year history has launched films including Whiplash, Boyhood, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Fruitvale Station, Little Miss Sunshine, sex, lies, and videotape, Reservoir Dogs, and Napoleon Dynamite.
A Reasonable Request is a dark and twisted comedy about a young man forced to reconnect with his estranged father under the most truly diabolical of circumstances. The film stars John Ennis (Mr. Show with Bob and David) and Stephen Ellis (Hail Caesar!).
Director Andrew Laurich said, “We’re blown away by Sundance Film Festival’s selection of A Reasonable Request. To bring a film as absurd as ours to a festival as prestigious as the Sundance Film Festival is as crazy as it is exciting. We can’t wait to share its twisted brand of humor with the Park City audiences.”
Laurich has written and/or directed dozens of broadcast commercials and content for brands such as Carhartt, Coppertone, Farmers Insurance and Foot Locker, through production company ContagiousLA. In addition to garnering industry honors for his spot work, Laurich’s music video for singer-songwriter Rob Cantor’s OLD BIKE was nominated for Best Music Video of 2014 at the One Screen Festival.
London-born writer Gabriel Miller began as an award-winning advertising creative, with critically acclaimed campaigns for the likes of Coca Cola, Heineken and Skype. Miller wrote the star-studded ad biz mockumentary ART AND CORNY, which was directed by Laurich and won the Merit Award at the 2012 One Show awards. His new short film, While You Were Away, starring UK comedian Richard Herring and directed by the BAFTA nominated Ben Mallaby, is set to be released in early 2016.
