Digital studio (www.radium.com)“>Radium/(www.reelfx.com)“>Reel FX, Santa Monica/Dallas spins mock-political propaganda in this series of six :30 spots for Farmer John’s 2010 campaign to make the Farmer John Bacon Wrapped Hot Dog the Official Hot Dog of Los Angeles. The spots, out of Mendelsohn Zien Advertising, L.A., include “Important“, “Hot Dog Party”, “Commies”, “Apocalypse”, “Other Cities“, and “Mission Accomplished” – all designed to parody the political ad campaigns of today.nnWorking in After Effects, as well as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, the process began with an offline edit from Cosmo Street’s Asako Ushio. The (www.radium.com)“>Radium/(www.reelfx.com)“>Reel FX team, led by Creative Director Limbert Fabian, was asked to embrace the dramatic timing and graphic look of real political advertising television campaigns, and take them to a new level with animated, dynamic transitions and motivational motion graphics. The team drew inspiration from real political ads as well as programs like "The Colbert Report," which played in the background while designers Arpine Aleksanyan and Kyle McCauley worked. The final spots are a hilarious, hyper-serious, tongue-in-cheek take on the political ads we know and (sometimes) love. For every vote received, Farmer John will donate a pound of food to a Los Angeles-area food bank. nn
