Hollywood’s pre-eminent studio services company Quixote (www.quixote.com) is joining forces with P.A. Bootcamp (www.pabootcamp.com) to offer an intensive 2-day production assistants’ workshop. P.A. Bootcamp LA will take place on May 19th and 20th at one of the Smashbox Studios facilities in Los Angeles; P.A. Bootcamp NY will occur June 2nd and 3rd at the Showbiz Café in the Flatiron neighborhood. Each workshop will teach aspiring film professionals how to get started as a working production assistant in film, television, commercials, reality, video, low budget and no budget productions.
Quixote P.A. Bootcamp training topics include understanding how a professional film shoot works, from prep to wrap; a working knowledge of crew departments, their functions and interactions; set protocol i.e. do’s and don’ts; hands on radio/walkie training; gear and supplies; production terminology and paperwork; and how to create an effective PA resume and find a job.
The non-profit organization Homeboy Industries plans to send one of their job trainees to each Los Angeles P.A. Bootcamp. The mission of Homeboy Industries is to provide hope, training and support to formerly gang-involved and recently incarcerated men and women, allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community. Father Gregory Boyle, Founder and Executive Director of Homeboy Industries, is excited for the Quixote partnership. "The film industry is such a vital part of the Los Angeles landscape," he says, "this is a great opportunity for the men and women who have been invited to participate in this program. I am also thankful to Quixote P.A. Bootcamp for opening its doors and giving people a chance to be more than their worst mistake."

Quixote P.A. Bootcamp is a newly launched partnership between P.A. Bootcamp and Quixote Studios. P.A. Bootcamps have been held for seven years. Quixote P.A. Bootcamp‘s staff includes seasoned production professionals who are currently working in the entertainment industry, including producers, assistant directors, production coordinators and P.A.s.
