Pursuit Systems, the camera car partner of car-prep company Shelly Ward Enterprises (SWE), has again expanded its fleet by adding new camera cars and equipment. A fourth Porsche Turbo Cayenne, a traditional insert car, and a new process trailer, along with various tow dollies, stage cranes, and other specialty equipment, will become available for rent in November 2012. In addition to the new equipment, Sam Jimenez, previous manager at Shotmaker, has joined Pursuit Systems in a similar position.
The new equipment advances Pursuit and SWE’s joint mission to provide a one-stop-shop for the car and action filming needs of production crews. Led by Shelly Ward, Mike Johnson, and Mike Majesky, Pursuit combines a full line of cutting-edge camera car equipment and services with SWE’s 35 years of experience in car prep and stunt driving. From a conveniently-located base in North Hollywood, the two companies offer 24-7 assistance with everything from pre-production planning of car scenes and car prep to stunt driving and camera car rigging.
SWE’s car preparation services encompass everything from basic washing and waxing to complex brake and headlight rewiring, including paint and vehicle wraps, peel coats, and repairs. Also offered are custom designs and fabrication, mechanical effects, consultation on shooting locations and conditions, and vehicle transportation.
When renting camera car equipment, Pursuit enables experienced crews to maximize shooting flexibility while providing efficient, safe use of the largest selection of camera cars and related equipment in the industry. Pursuit’s extensive fleet is led by high-speed Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Mercedes-AMG camera cars. These are joined by a full line of additional equipment, including the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, Mini Cooper, standard plate cars, B1 Camera Bike, off-road camera buggy, electric kart, gas camera kart, process trailers, and multiple open and enclosed vehicle transporters.
Pursuit’s camera vehicles are complemented by state-of-the-art rigging such as the company’s own innovative R1 Carbon Fiber Arms and Pursuit Cranes. Pursuit’s designers are constantly experimenting with new ways to solve shooting problems, and have spent the past three years developing a new line of equipment to be announced in 2013.
Pursuit equipment is built at their in-house facilities, owned by the company, and operated by their team of experts, in conjunction with SWE’s stunt experts, who have a stellar safety record stretching over three decades. This arrangement is designed to facilitate more efficient backup, operation, repairs, and on-set problem-solving and innovation. The end result translates into on-demand, reliable delivery of equipment and on-time completion of production.
