Prettybird Director Matt Piedmont has directed the H&M Christmas campaign created by Adam&EveDDB.  A 6-film mini-series set in the fictional Hotel Mauritz kicked off on 12th November with Episode 1 (‘Bells & Whistles’) depicting an eclectic group of guests snowed in at an Alpine lodge.  Episode 2 ‘Get in Line’ launched on 19th November and featured the hotel guests getting ready for a party. Episode 3 ‘Lights Out’ was revealed this week.  H&M will roll out a new 30-second spot from the series of 6 films every week in the run up to Christmas day.

Aubrey Plaza, star of Parks & Recreation stars in the films with model/ musician Adonis Bosso.  The soundtrack to the films has an 80s vibe with Tiffany’s ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ providing the soundtrack to Episode 1, and Episode 2 ‘Get in Line’ showing Plaza and Bosso preparing for a party while listening to

Neneh Cherry’s ‘Buffalo Stance’. Matt Piedmont is a former ‘Saturday Night Live’ writer, and the storyline of the 6 vignettes features a narrative following the cast of models, actors and musicians.

Matt Piedmont commented:  “We had three different crews…shooting during London’s summer heat wave. It was fun controlled chaos, like being at Timothy Leary’s Millbrook mansion.”

Matt Piedmont started out in entertainment writing at the age of 25 as a writer for ‘Saturday Night Live’, and wrote 100 episodes of the iconic sketch comedy showcase.  He was named one of Variety’s ’10 Directors to Watch’ in 2012 when he released his debut feature film ‘Casa de Mi Padre’, starring Will Ferrell, Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal.  He had 2 Emmy nominations for ‘The Spoils of Babylon’ mini-series, which he directed and co-wrote.

About MATT PIEDMONT
For almost twenty years, Matt Piedmont has been breaking comedic ground with his writing and directing. After being named one of Variety’s 2012 “10 Directors to Watch” following the premiere of his debut feature film Casa de Mi Padre (starring Will Ferrell, Diego Luna, Gael Garcia Bernal and Nick Offerman), Matt co-wrote and directed the star-studded mini-series The Spoils of Babylonand its follow-up The Spoils Before Dying for IFC featuring Kristen Wiig, Tobey Maguire, Michael K. Williams, Carey Mulligan, Jessica Alba, Haley Joel Osment, Michael Sheen, Tim Robbins, Val Kilmer and Ferrell himself (in two roles). Spoils was nominated for two Emmys, including Best Theme Song, which Matt co-wrote, and a SAG award for Kristen Wiig.

Matt got his start in entertainment writing for the legendary sketch comedy showcase Saturday Night Live – a job he landed at the age of 25. From 1996 to 2002, Matt wrote on over 100 episodes, won an Emmy and developed working relationships with A-list actors who have since been featured in his own projects. During the closing credits of Will Ferrell’s final SNLperformance, Ferrell held up a sign that read, “Matt Piedmont is the best in the biz.”

Following his success on SNL, Matt wrote and directed a number of award-winning web series and short films. The Carpet Brothers, which began as a web series starring David Spade and Tim Meadows, was later featured on HBO as a short film co-starring Will Ferrell. Matt would go on to direct segments for Funny or Die Presents… also for HBO, and his short film Brick Novax’s Diary won the U.S. Jury Prize in Short Filmmaking at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.

In addition to his successes in film and TV, Matt has quickly established himself as comic force in the commercial world, directing both television and digital campaigns for global brands including Lincoln, Microsoft, Bud Light, Pepsi, AT&T, 7-Up, Orbit, VW, Triscuit, Taco Bell, Old Navy (featuring several SNL alumni), Capital One (featuring Jimmy Fallon), and Gain (featuring Ty Burrell). His Prediabetes PSA for Ad Council was awarded a Bronze PR Lion at the 2016 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, while his Seventh Generation campaign (featuring Maya Rudolph) took home a Bronze 2017 One Show award. More recently, Matt spearheaded SunLife Insurance’s groundbreaking spot “Life After 50,” an ad that garnered great acclaim due to its refreshing defiance of age stereotypes.
