“Social networking is complex and time consuming,” says Social Butterflyโข’s Sarah Kane. “We have already had great success in helping creative companies engage current and potential clients in a lively two-way dialogue online. Interestingly, our social networking efforts have consistently caused an uptick in traffic to clients existing websites.” Through social media messaging, brands stay relevant using an evolving arsenal of online tools centering on Facebook and including FourSquare, GoWalla, Twitter, Flickr, Whohub, blogs, web content and more.
“Our PR agency’s role as content provider has been growing every year,” explains President Virginia Scripps. “We look forward to using many of the skills we’ve employed over the past decade to help creative companies achieve must-visit status online.” Navigating the ins and outs of the constantly mutating social networking landscape is another aim of the service. “Social Butterfly saves our clients a lot of time and frustration.”
Heading up the Social Butterflyโข team is new hire Sarah Kane, who previously honed her online marketing skills at O2 MAX in Santa Monica. At this interactive online youth fitness outreach organization targeting childhood obesity, Kane used social media to promote exercise for LA’s youth. She executed numerous guerilla marketing campaigns such as the Tour de Fitness and the teen fitness craze Primp for Prom. Kane is currently pursuing a Masters in Journalism: Strategic Public Relations at USC’s Annenberg School of Communications.
Practicing what it preaches, Social Butterflyโข features popular bloggers and social media thought leaders such as Jerry Solomon of producerposts.com and Dave Rolfe, Director of Integrated Production, CP +B, on its blog. These guest writers share useful information about the social media space and where it is headed. Soon to launch is a web film campaign capturing key influencers in the community holding forth on the topic of social networking.
“Online marketing is more green than traditional PR, as all assets and content are exchanged digitally,” says Social Butterflyโข chief Virginia Scripps. “This not only saves precious natural resources, it’s also makes using Social Butterflyโข more cost-effective than traditional publicity.” In association with the launch of the new division, Press Kitchen PR moves to a new office space on the beach at Brooks and Speedway in Venice, Calif.
