The Reel Thing XX conference and technical symposium, hosted by the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA), will explore how the evolution of digital technology is affecting the restoration and preservation of images and sound from past and current motion pictures. The symposium will also explore the outlook for the future for producers and filmmakers from independents to major studios and broadcasters.
The conference will be held on June 6 and 7 at the Linwood Dunn Theater at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood. Presenters include archivists from Warner Bros, Sony Pictures Entertainment and 20th Century Fox, representatives of various postproduction facilities and other technology vendors.
The seminar will be capped with evening screening of classic films that have been restored, including Bonnie and Clyde (1967), Down Argentine Way (1940) and Ride Lonesome (1959).
