PostWorks, New York, (www.pwny.com) the city’s most comprehensive provider of post production services for film, television and advertising media, has hired Bill Topazio as Vice President of Engineering. Topazio brings more than 20 years of experience as a post production engineer, most recently as a senior member of the engineering team for Ascent Media’s Company 3 and Method facilities in New York.
In his new role, Topazio will oversee engineering activities for PostWorks‘ entire New York operation. “Bill is a very talented engineer and one who not only knows the technology, but also has a strong commitment to customer service,” said David Rosen, Chairman of Telecorps, PostWorks‘ parent company. “We look to benefit greatly from his knowledge and broad experience as we continue to evolve to meet the expanding needs of our clients.”
Topazio said that he will work to ensure that compatible workflows and engineering standards prevail among PostWorks‘ various facilities and departments, as well as between PostWorks and its affiliates, which include Hollywood-based Laser Pacific. “We are on the cusp of technological changes that are going to dramatically affect the way shows and other media are produced and how they travel through the production pipeline,” he said. “I want to ensure we reach the next plateau safe, sound and still number oneโฆand that we have a little fun along the way.”
Topazio said that he was impressed with the customer-centric attitude at PostWorks. “We have great talent here and everyone believes that we can solve any problem that comes through the door,” he observed. “The positive energy, top to bottom, is tremendous.”
Topazio joined Manhattan Transfer as VP Engineering in 1996 and remained with the facility when it was purchased by Ascent Media, in 2001, later becoming R!OT and Company 3. At Company 3, he served as design engineer for a major renovation of the facility that incorporated digital intermediate capabilities. Topazio previously served as an engineer at Editel for 13 years. A graduate of MIT, he began his career with NBC TV.

“ฦvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of ฦvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? ฦvolutionย suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence,ย ฦvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating โin the blink of an eyeโ the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called โprogressโ may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
