<a href="(www.popsound.com)“>POP Sound ((www.popsound.com)) recently hosted recording sessions with Alfre Woodard, Levar Burton, Benjamin Bratt and Ricardo Chavira and other stars for a unique audiobook commemorating the 90th birthday of Nelson Mandela. “Nelson Mandela’s Favorite African Folktales,” produced by Artists for a New South Africa (ANSA) and Hachette Audio & Digital Media, is a collection of more than two dozen stories hand-picked by the Nobel laureate and read by some of the world’s best actors.
Proceeds from the book benefit South African children orphaned and impacted by HIV/AIDS. The critically acclaimed audiobook recently won two 2010 Audie Awards from the Audio Publishers Association, including its most prestigious award, Audiobook of the Year.
Alfre Woodard, who co-founded ANSA in 1989, served as Director of the audiobook and selected <a href="(www.popsound.com)“>POP Sound to record story readings by herself and several other actors involved in the project. “We have worked with Alfre Woodard for a long time and were very happy to help with this very special and worthwhile project,” said <a href="(www.popsound.com)“>POP Sound engineer, Tim West. “Actors enjoy working at our facility because of the warm, friendly atmosphere and professional service—as well as our convenient location.”
“We are so grateful to <a href="(www.popsound.com)“>POP Sound for so generously donating the use of their gorgeous studios, as well as their expert services. They are consummate professionals and their involvement meant a great deal to us all,” said Sharon Gelman, ANSA’s Executive Director and an Executive Producer of the audiobook.
<a href="(www.popsound.com)“>POP Sound has broad experience in recording actors for film, television, game and audio book projects. “Consistency is really important in recording voice talent,” noted West. “You want to ensure a consistent tone, especially in long sessions as the actor’s voice can get tired.”
