The Equity & Inclusion Committee of Post New York Alliance (PNYA) will host a special online panel discussion on negotiating pay rates for post-production professionals on Thursday, August 18th at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
Focusing on post-production producers, supervisors, coordinators, assistants and other management roles, Post Producers Claire Shanley and Kendall McCarthy will join moderator Gautam Singhani in exploring how and when to approach prospective employers about pay. Drawing on their deep experience in New York’s competitive post-production industry, Shanley and McCarthy will offer tips and advice on navigating often difficult negotiations over compensation. Free and open to all, the event will include valuable insights for both aspiring pros and seasoned veterans. Registration is available here.
Speakers
- Claire Shanley is a post producer whose recent projects include Gilded Age, The Plot Against America and The Deuce. Her background also includes post facility and technical management roles. She served as Managing Director at Sixteen19 and Technical Director at Broadway Video. She is co-chair of the Board of Directors of the NYC LGBT Center and serves on the Advisory Board of New York Women in Film & Television.
- Kendall McCarthy got her start working with Executive Producer Jerry Brownstein on films for Director Hal Hartley. For more than ten years, she has freelanced as a post-production supervisor, working with some of New York's most talented and creative directors. She is currently the post co-producer on Dead Ringers.
- Gautam Singhani is a production and post manager with more than eight years of experience in scripted and unscripted productions. Having overseen 75-plus projects in New York, Los Angeles and Mumbai, he currently works at Story Syndicate where his most recent credits include FAUCI (Nat Geo) and Mayor Pete (Amazon). Outside the entertainment industry, he runs Did You Know with his wife, curating authentic culinary experiences ranging from cooking classes to private events.
