Announces 2009 Production Slate, Including "2012" and "NINJA ASSASSIN"
International visual effects company <a href="www.pixomondo.com.>Pixomondo has opened a new flagship studio in Los Angeles, California. Extending its global reach, <a href="www.pixomondo.com.>Pixomondo now has a worldwide network of studios located in Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich and Stuttgart, as well as London and Shanghai, from which it produces feature film, television and commercial visual effects.
The California move represents <a href="www.pixomondo.com.>Pixomondo‘s commitment to world-class feature film visual effects and intent to compete at the highest levels. Situated in the creative heart of Venice, the new studio provides convenience and accessibility for <a href="www.pixomondo.com.>Pixomondo‘s studio clients in Hollywood and allows the company to tap into the talent pool of the L.A. market.
<a href="www.pixomondo.com.>Pixomondo has also announced an impressive 2009 visual effects production slate. The company has been awarded substantial work on the highly anticipated “2012” from director Roland Emmerich and recently delivered “NINJA ASSASSIN” for director James McTeigue. Both films are set to release in late 2009.
After winning more than 700 pre-visualization shots on 2012 in 2008, <a href="www.pixomondo.com.>Pixomondo set up a “stealth unit” in Venice to produce that work in proximity to the filmmakers. When <a href="www.pixomondo.com.>Pixomondo was awarded a share of the film’s visual effects sequences in November, the company decided to commit to the location as a permanent flagship for its future feature film operations.
CEO Thilo Kuther, who founded <a href="www.pixomondo.com.>Pixomondo in 2001, will continue to provide oversight of the company’s global visual effects, in addition to production operations in L.A. Working together with Kuther are the recently appointed managing producer John Parenteau and executive producer and head of business development Joni Jacobson. Both are highly regarded visual effects veterans who will spearhead new business initiatives and cultivate working relationships with studio executives, directors, producers and visual effects and post production supervisors.
Kuther said “Our decision to open a studio in L.A. is a natural evolution of our increasing involvement in feature film visual effects. The economic climate provided us with the opportunity to have not just a presence here, but to take advantage of the tremendous artistic and technical talents the city has to offer. We’ve been very happy with the response we’ve received from the studios and with the quality of the projects we’ve been asked to bid on. All of us at <a href="www.pixomondo.com.>Pixomondo are excited about the future and the opportunity to work on great films.”
With its considerable international experience and network of studios, <a href="www.pixomondo.com.>Pixomondo has positioned itself at the forefront of the changing world of visual effects with an efficient and collaborative workflow that has given rise to a 24/7 production cycle across datelines and time zones.
<a href="www.pixomondo.com.>Pixomondo positions itself strategically in the early stages of project bidding to offer concept, design and sequence visualization, distinguished by the turnaround speed with which it is able to produce a unique brand of highly dynamic pre-visualization, which was used extensively on 2012.
While each of <a href="www.pixomondo.com.>Pixomondo‘s international studios is self sufficient, all bring efficiencies of production, growing local talent bases and economic advantages to the overall entity. This competitive edge translates into financial benefits for company’s client base.

“Ǝvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of Ǝvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? Ǝvolution suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence, Ǝvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating —in the blink of an eye— the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called “progress” may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
With a string of festival appearances across the globe, including CineGlobe at CERN (Switzerland/France), Oscar®... Read More
