“The baddest one chick hit squad to ever take on the industry” begins the electric commercial for Turner Classic Movies (TCM)’s Season 4 promotion for The Plot Thickens: Here Comes Pam, which dives into the life and work of trailblazing actress Pam Grier.
“When TCM launched The Plot Thickens, we looked for a partner who could help us think strategically and present outside-the-box ideas and attention grabbing creative. We certainly found that in Pilot, who have helped establish TCM as a leader in the podcast marketplace,” said David Byrne, Senior Writer and Producer for TCM. “It was thrilling to see this piece for season 4 go from the storyboard phase all the way up to being featured on the Today Show alongside Pam Grier herself.”
In collaboration with TCM, Pilot Content wrote, produced, animated and mixed the vibrantly funky teaser foreshadowing stories of guerrilla filmmaking led by a woman who started a movement and shook-up Hollywood.
Hosted by Ben Mankiewicz, season four tells the story of Grier as only she can tell it: about bravery, both onscreen and off; about race in Hollywood and in America; and about how real life is a lot messier than the movies. In more than 20 hours of interviews with Grier, the season will feature new interviews with her colleagues, friends, and family including Quentin Tarantino, Gloria Steinem, Philip Bailey, Michael Schultz, and more.
“We’ve been a part of each season of this podcast and it’s an honor to continue creating for them,” comments Pilot CEO Louis Venezia. “You can’t help but want to make something better than the last to keep audiences’ on their toes and capture their attention to tap into these riveting stories.”
Episodes 1–3 are now available to download on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
