Independent publishing and licensing company pigFACTORY Music, whose roster includes recordings and songs by artists such as Fatboy Slim, Iggy Pop, and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, has signed multi-talented writer CJ Vanston. The announcement was made today by Keatly Haldeman, CEO, pigFACTORY Music.
Said Mr. Haldeman, “CJ Vanston is a multi-Grammy Award nominated producer, film composer, keyboard player and songwriter. He is the keyboardist in Spinal Tap and has just co–written and produced the lead single for the upcoming Def Leppard album. Are you kidding? About CJ VANSTON
CJ Vanston has written with songwriters such as Desmond Child, Paul Williams, Barry Mann, Bernie Taupin, Tony Jo White, Kool Kojak, Amy Powers, Michael Jay and Chesney Hawkes, along with a wide range of other co-writers. CJ has attended many writer camps around the world, including Miles Copeland’s Marouatte Castle and Icefusion in Iceland.
CJ has composed music for all four of Christopher Guest’s suite of movies; "Waiting for Guffman," "Best In Show," "A Mighty Wind," and "For Your Consideration," in addition to scores for "Almost Heroes," "Slingshot," and songs for "Sweet Home Alabama," and many others.
He has also been musical director/keyboardist on World Tours for Tina Turner, Joe Cocker and Spinal Tap in over 40 countries. As a session keyboardist and arranger, CJ has worked on over 200 albums with such major artists as Prince, Celine Dion, Chris Botti, Joe Cocker, Barbra Streisand, Ringo Starr, Dolly Parton, ‘NSync, and many more.
CJ’s producing has ranged from Joe Cocker’s "Heart & Soul," an album with a rich sound including full orchestra, to Spinal Tap’s 2010 Grammy Nominated "Back From The Dead," a head-banging, mind numbing rock record. The song "A Kiss At The End of the Rainbow," from "A Mighty Wind," produced by CJ, was nominated for an Oscar for Best Song in 2004.
Recently CJ produced and co-wrote a new album for Steve Lukather (Toto), and is currently producing albums for Spanish diva Veronica Romeo and a debut album for Canadian artist Kristina Helene. CJ has also co-written and produced the new single for Def Leppard, out in 2011.
In addition, CJ and Phil Collen (Def Leppard) have announced the creation of their digital music label, moodahmusic.com, which is set to debut in spring 2011.
