Panavision, the worldwide market leader in the design, manufacture and rental of camera systems, has announced a new role for Steve Smith as Managing Director-Panalux™ Worldwide. Effective immediately, Smith will assume responsibility for all Panavision-owned lighting operations, including the Panalux-branded operations in the United Kingdom, Europe, South Africa, the Asia Pacific region and Panavision Lighting in the United States.

Smith, formerly the Managing Director of Panalux Europe, has been actively involved in the film and television lighting industry for over 25 years and has played an integral part in the formation and growth of the Panalux brand in Europe and Africa. Under his management, he developed it into an international market leader in the provision of film, television and broadcast equipment, and built a number of international brands: Panalux, Panalux Broadcast & Event, Island Studios and the professional photographic rental facility, Kinetic.

Smith’s directive will include consolidating the operational systems, sales, marketing and services of the global bases under a single banner. “As the entertainment industry begins to rebound, there are so many opportunities for us to grow this business and I believe now is the time to make that happen,” Smith added.
