    Oscar Winners “Life of Pi,” “Argo,” “Amour” Captured By Codex

    Several feature productions that relied on Codex technology for digital recording and workflow management were among the winners last night at the Academy Awards®. Life of Pi, which employed Codex Onboard Recorders and Transfer Stations, took home four Oscars®, including the awards for Best Director (Ang Lee), Best Cinematography (Claudio Miranda) and Best Visual Effects (Bill Westenhofer, Guillaume Rocheron, Erik-Jan De Boer and Donald R. Elliott). Best Picture winner Argo also employed Codex OnBoard Recorders, as did Amour, a winner for Best Foreign Language Film.

    Life of Pi was one of the first feature productions to use Codex recorders in tandem with ARRI Alexa cameras. In a groundbreaking 3D workflow, individual Codex recorders were used with each of three Alexa camera pairs (that were maintained by Cameron Pace Group). When the recorders were full, they were taken to a near-set laboratory and off-loaded to Codex Digital Labs. Codex recorders were also used in tandem with ARRI Alexa cameras on Argo and Amour.

    AICP National and Regional Boards Set for 2025

    The results of the AICP National and Regional Board elections are in. On the AICP National Board, all four incumbents were re-elected to serve a two-year term. The three General Members Director At Large seats were won by Yvette Cobarrubias of Cosmo Street, Gloria Pitagorsky of Heard City and Frank Scherma of RadicalMedia. Margaret Capossela of NEED Financial was re-elected as an Associate Member Director At Large. At the year-end AICP National Board meeting, Tabitha Mason-Elliott of BARK BARK was re-elected Chairperson of the Board, while Sally Campbell was re-elected Vice Chairperson. Lisa Mehling of Chelsea continues as Immediate Past Chairperson; Robert Fernandez of Moxie Pictures continues as Treasurer. To view the full AICP National Board, click here.
