Original has signed director/cameraman Mark Dektor for exclusive representation in the United States. Dektor has been directing for twelve years, following highly successful career as a director of photography. His credits include American Express, Dove, Suave and Fisher Price, and much of his work involves real people, often in testimonial or documentary style scenarios.
“I just love the organic quality of Mark’s work,” said Original executive producer Joe Piccirillo, in making the announcement, “and am thrilled to have him as part of the Original family.”Dektor previously directed via Dektor Film, a company founded by his father, two-time DGA winning director Leslie Dektor.
Mark Dektor has established a distinct directorial style characterized by engaging, performances, beautiful photography and well thought out art direction. The naturalness of the performances lend his spots an easy charm.
“I spend a lot of time in casting and I work very hard to make people feel comfortable so that their personalities come through in the work,” Dektor explains.
In 2010, Dektor was contracted by Ogilvy & Mather to shoot a segment of a ten minute film in support of Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympics. One focuses on an inner city youth who finds an outlet for his anger in wrestling and his relationship with his coach.
Mark says that his decision to join Original, was based on the opportunities Original offers to broaden his career both in commercials and in other media. “I feel very comfortable with Bruce and Joe, and I’m very impressed with the resources they have brought together at Original,” he notes. “They have a great vision for the future.”

“Ǝvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of Ǝvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? Ǝvolution suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence, Ǝvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating —in the blink of an eye— the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called “progress” may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
